Yes I think it would. It would make people realize that they need to be more careful about what they are reading. Because if they are reading a persuasion focused article, they are getting more than just the news.

I think I fall into the advocacy professionalism outlook a little more, and I think my friends and family are the same way.
#J201 #312
Do you think journalists should follow the Neutral Professionalism or the Advocacy Professionalism?
#J201 #312
Yes I think it does. Itβs easier to see other people getting corrections and you thinking about if you need to fix those things as well, rather then you being the one called out for it.

I think just knowing where to draw the line. Asking factual questions for reassurance makes sense but making up crazy possible situations just to try and make your side right needs to not be ok.
#J201 #312
Do you think Meta getting rid of fact checkers is a good or bad thing?
#J201 #312
Even though we want all of our news sources and articles to be unbiased, there is just no possible way. Everyone is influenced and opinionated and when a journalist is around all these stories as much as they are itβs almost hard not to be biased to some degree.
#J201 #312
I think itβs stayed about the same. I donβt necessarily think itβs gotten better but I also donβt think itβs decreased.

Where do we see more hostile media effect and where do we see more relative hostile media effect?
#J201 #312
I tend to scroll on tik tok a lot and I find that that influences me a lot. Sometimes I tend to believe things I see on there that I shouldnβt believe.

I agree, when tv broadcasts use other sources to support what they are are reporting it is taken better by the audience because it seems more truthful with evidence.
#J201 #312
What do you think is the most popular categories of what predicts our satisfaction/happiness amongst the population? Why?
#J201 #312
Yes I think it definitely does. I think we can combat this by going to multiple different sources for news to determine whatβs actually true and not true so framing doesnβt affect us as much.
#J201 #312
I agree, I think how things are pitched to us on television or ads or newspapers or anything really reflects on what we believe to be true and false.
#J201 #312
What shows that a companies a good/genuine company based on how they respond to feedback/comments (good or bad) from audiences?
#J201 #312
I agree, our attention span is so short nowadays that if media or news don't grab our attention right away, they will lose us.
#J201 #312
I agree, some media tend to focus on the most outrageous thing happening instead of the most important thing happening.

When reading the articles for Friday's lecture, I was intrigued by the "ads that don't look like ads." The "ads that don't look like ads" have been all over my for you pages while other kinds have not. I think this shows how effective this type of ad can be for the younger generations.
#J201 #312
I agree, thereβs so much misinformation all over every news source. After learning today in lecture that some conspiracy theories in class can make it to traditional news media if it is on cable news is concerning.
#J201 #312
I agree, I see the side how fact checkers could be seen as a way from prohibiting free speech in a way, but the surge of misinformation especially on the extreme is going to be astronomical.
