Iβve sponsored a motion in Parliament to recognise the bravery of UK-based medics in Gaza.
Charities like @MedicalAidPal, @MSF_uk, Glia & the @BritishRedCross are saving lives in the most dangerous conditions.
They deserve our respect β and our support. π₯π΅πΈ #Gaza
Yesterday I joined the f40 group in Parliament to discuss urgent SEND reforms and fairer education funding.
Stockport is among the worst-funded areas β that must change. We need bold reform, not tweaks, so every child can thrive.

Today I spoke out against the Governmentβs unfair welfare cuts, which will push thousands into poverty. Amy, Joan, and so many others deserve better. Iβll be voting against this Bill.

Yesterday, I delivered our 6,123-strong petition to 10 Downing Street, demanding urgent action to save Stepping Hill Hospital.
Our community is unitedβand I wonβt stop fighting until the Government listens.

π Cheadleβs new train station has funding, planning permission & public support. So why is it still delayed?
Iβm calling on the Govt to stop stalling and get this vital project moving. Our community deserves better.

Over 30 MPs from across parties have signed my motion in Parliament calling for action. But we need more voices.

Please write to your MP. Tell them about Gigiβs story. Ask them to support the campaign: safer nurseries should not be controversial.
Iβve secured a meeting for Gigiβs parents with the Minister responsible for early years. Iβll be there with them β alongside the LullabyTrust β to push for change.
This cannot be another tragedy met with silence.
As a new parent, this story hit me hard. You expect nurseries to be safe β to be a place of care, protection and trust.
We owe it to Gigi, and to every family, to make sure this never happens again.
Theyβre calling for:
β
Mandatory safe sleep training
β
Routine unannounced Ofsted inspections
β
Compulsory use of CCTV in nurseries
These are straightforward, practical reforms. And theyβre long overdue.
Gigi Meehan was just 9 months old when she died at a nursery in Cheadle Hulme. No parent should ever go through what her family has.
Her death was preventable, and her parents are now campaigning for simple, vital changes to keep children safe.

π I questioned Darren Jones MP, Chief Secretary to the Treasury, on whether the new Metrolink extension to Stockport will include Cheadle.
This is a key opportunity to improve transport, reduce congestion, and boost local growth.
Watch my question below π
In May, my team and I helped residents across Cheadle with issues ranging from housing to healthcare to pensions.
Constituents always come first β if you need support, please get in touch.

Delighted to attend the opening of Pear Tree High School in Cheadle Hulme β a fantastic new SEND school for local families. π³π
I pushed hard for this as a councillor, so itβs brilliant to see it open at last. Huge thanks to the staff and Stockport Council for making it happen!
Great to attend the Charities Aid Foundation drop-in in Parliament for the launch of their UK Local Giving Report 2025.
π 60% of people in Cheadle donated to charity last year
π We ranked 2nd in the UK for local pride!
Proud to represent such a generous, community-minded place. π
1 in 5 in Gaza face starvation. 90% displaced. 50,000 dead. Aid workers are being killed.
This horror must end.
We need action to stop the bombing and get the hostages out.
Suspend arms sales. Sanction extremists. Recognise Palestine.

βοΈ I asked the Govt to back councils rolling out warm spaces earlier β with winter fuel support being cut, people face another tough winter.
They refused to u-turn on the allowance or commit any new help.
We need action, not warm words.

On #NursesDay, I want to say thank you to the amazing nurses in Cheadle and beyond.
From Stepping Hill to our local GP surgeries, you care for us with skill and compassion every day.
We must match that with real support, fair pay and safe staffing. π
So delighted that all 72 LibDem MPs signed this letter to @rthonwesstreeting.bsky.social @ashleydaltonmp.bsky.social asking the govt to back the ME/CFS Delivery Plan with the resources it deserves. May this be a huge encouragement to the ME community and the start of meaningful change. #WorldMEDay

Mental health must be part of the Stepping Hill conversation.
A historic day as Pope Leo XIV is elected. I send warm wishes to Cheadleβs Catholic community at this moment of reflection and hope.
Pope Francis leaves a legacy of peace, compassion, and unity. May his successor carry that light forward.
This afternoon I represented Cheadle at Stockportβs civic service marking 80 years since VE Day. It was an honour to join the Mayor and meet veterans as we remembered the courage and sacrifice of those who served. Their bravery will never be forgotten. #VEDay80

08.05.2025 13:57 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Great to welcome Years 8β10 from Laurus Cheadle Hulme to Parliament last week β one of my favourite parts of the job!
Brilliant questions, including on Stepping Hill and the train station. Really encouraging to see such strong local engagement β keep it up! π
Raised Heald Greenβs parking issues in Parliament after hearing from residents on Finney Lane, Rosslyn Rd & East Ave.
Trust in private parking firms is so low, more drivers are turning to on-street parking β causing real problems locally.
Time for a fairer, joined-up approach.
This weekendβs terror arrest in Cheadle Hulme highlights a real threat. I met with members of our Jewish community on Sunday who no longer feel safe. Iβve called in Parliament for the IRGC to be proscribed as a terrorist group. Itβs time the Government acts. #Cheadle #IRGC #Security

Thank you to Yeshurun Synagogue here in Cheadle for inviting me to tonightβs Question Time event. I really appreciated the warm welcome and the chance to take part in a thoughtful and respectful discussion.
