Interesting update. One of the few times new builds like BTR82s and BMP3s overwhelmingly outnumber old platforms like BMP1/2. One to keep an eye on if this is a new normal as this would be indicative of the expected trends when Soviet storage is about exhausted.

I am very confident that Kukawa has now been liberated from ISWAP and that these attacks will fade away over time, I however am not yet as sure about Kareto. It is still very isolated and far from both Damasak and Gubio. It will need a lot of Air support which I'm not seeing at present.

One failed attack definitely won't stop them, BUT the outcome of the first attack is always a pointer to the future. Kukawa will be resettled for sure, the problems with the FOBs in northern Borno was primarily logistical and that has been sorted this time. I will remind you to take a look in a Year

For a minute, I thought you were talking about the other Mafa in Borno, but I guess you are referring to the one in Yobe close to Jilli where there there was an attack recently. Funny enough if the Yobe State Governor was serious, that side of the theatre is actually easier to secure.

As it is, ISWAP still has some logistics routes through the portion between Damaturu and Ngamdu hence why they are still able to relatively easily trouble NA outposts like Kukareta even if they cannot dislodge them. Also why Yobe is gradually becoming even more troubled than Borno.

Infact, if the Yobe State Government was as serious as Governor Zulum of Borno with security, they would have ensured the anti-vehicle trench south of the Highway ran all the way to Damaturu and sealed up southern Borno and Yobe completely.

Attacks in Southern Borno these days are mostly small scale infantry attacks since the stretch of the Damaturu-Maiduguri highway from Ngamdu to Auno was trenched and movement of ISWAP materiel from Northern to Southern Borno curtailed significantly.

The early signs are good for the NA, usually, when new locations are fortified and resettlement starts, ISWAP attacks start strongly and then ebb over time. Very important that the NA doesn't have a lot of casualties or lose materiel. The initial signs in Kukawa are good.

Kukawa has been abandoned since at least 2020, it is only just being resettled after some decent fortification work within the past 2 months. ISWAP always do this as the State Government resettles towns along with the NA. They will stop attacking Kukawa soon when they realize the futility of it.

There is extensive trench work along the road from Cross Kauwa to Monguno. This is likely an attack on one of the temporary locations of workers and equipment.

There is no base yet in Kareto, just an advance party doing some fortification work prior to resettlement.
