Celebrating fall doesn’t have to include shopping for decor or new outfits. We were built to embrace seasonal change by going outside and feeling the breeze. By watching the birds migrate. By harvesting the squash planted over the summer. By going to bed earlier with the sun.

things I do that replace the dopamine hit of buying new clothes and decor:
-adding grenadine to the monthly grocery list and making myself a midday Shirley temple at work in a cute glass
-birding on Sunday mornings and looking for new lifers
-feeding the neighborhood cats

Life got infinitely better when I started only eating in season fruits

Yes shopping releases dopamine but you actually don’t have to buy anything to get the dopamine. You can make a dopamine Pinterest board or wishlist. Or rent or borrow something for the dopamine hit. Or make something!
