It must be something about the energy you bring to a dynamic, or what traits of a character you put focus on (what parts of them seems more or less empowered). But this makes me curious too of what people think our preferences are, when they have no real proof to back it up?

The lineart stage took so long that I actually kinda lost faith in it and left it for maybe half a year, but it really picked up at the shading stage. I'm very proud of how it came out in the end. So I guess some words of encouragement are.. trust the process haha

I do know that pitch changes with language (mine definitely is different between English and Danish), but I wonder also if movies and such have made English audiences associate a russian accent with something masculine? Somehow, that wouldn't seem so farfetched to me. What do you think?

Haha thank you, thank you. It was funny as well, cause many of those people also, I assume, saw the immense popularity it got and tried to convince me I had actually failed my intent, cause "you've just hit the fetish crowd instead" or whatever. Idk I think 130k is pretty successful.

That is a fun sort of divide, isn't it, because the family itself was divided on these views, and it seems a no-brainer to both sides, I assume. So yeah, I agree that it's interesting, the discussion this game has sparked with its story elements. Also can't help but wonder what it says about people.

A lot of the time, my own drawings are fuelled by a desire to show the version *I* see, because it pretty often isn't the one I encounter the most. So I don't say this to dismiss you at all, but rather, that's the consolation

You know, I get what you're saying, cause such things bother me too, but when I think about it from another angle... I suppose the beauty of fandom is that there will be someone who depicts the version of a character as you see them somewhere. There's something for everyone in the end 😅

Yeah, and I think it's relevant for all levels of skill. It doesn't matter how many years go by; I still get off on the wrong foot sometimes when I start a drawing and get discouraged, but then fix it up quite quickly on a better day. It's good to remind yourself that you can always try again later.

That is a very good lesson, especially with a visual example to solidify it.

That's honestly very sweet, cause when you move platforms, it also sorta makes you consider whether you even want to follow the same people again. It means a lot when people decide to keep following; I think that shows they truly enjoy the art more than as a passing glance.

I felt that the most interesting thing about clair obscur was, by the end of the game, the dessandres' sort of obsession with Verso, and how the painted one is truly just a random guy with a face that isn't really his.

This drawing was a direct response to that, actually. I saw those ridiculous takes and made this to take the piss out of those "we fixed her" incels. And I sure got a lot of pissed off little dudes in the replies (it got 130k likes on twitter) so I think it served its purpose😆

What really? Aw... well, tbf I have been working for a while, so I also haven't been drawing as much lately. It hasn't been more than one personal piece a month for maybe two months or so.
