I would be inclined to agree if Sam weren't a campaign manager. It's not like he doesn't know how GetThru works. Also even in an activist town like Mpls the pool of campaign workers is small and he may need to work with whoever is on the other end of this text in the future.

Where is Sam from and why is he trying to channel Rahm Emanuel?

irony because the threat wasn't some foreign invaders but homegrown fascist violence

in the book, Saruman destroys the shire by convincing many of the hobbits that industrial capital is better than their quiet ways of living. Goods are tarriffed and expensive and freedom of speech is restricted.

a lot of people are finally waking up to the importance of the 3rd amendment. As a 3A absolutist, i think it should be illegal for soldiers to be quartered anywhere in this country. they should be camping under the open sky at all times. all military bases and barracks are unconstitutional.

Police told encampment residents that they would be able to get back into their tents after 2 hours, so people stood around on the sidewalk all night, only to have all of their belongings thrown in the trash by City workers under Mayor Frey's management.

How am I supposed to have faith in the party to take care of violations of the code of conduct when the very people doing it are the ones judging it? How are we supposed to handle mistreatment of marginalized groups when the offenders and the judges are the same people?

Strongly disagree. Notwithstanding anyone’s feelings on this particular challenge, people file challenges all the time, and the challengers usually lose.

Delaying until after the challenge would create an incentive for even more people to file challenges, even if they know their challenge is BS.

Team Frey may have biffed their convention strategy but their lawnsign game is on point. This exactly the kind of lawn I would expect to see this sign in. The degree to which this meets my expectations exceeds my expectations.

What's this? A clear-headed analysis of the convention from a candidate? One that honors the results, the work of the candidate who won, AND the work of the delegates. One that moves us forward into the work of doorknocking and campaigning? Here for it, & I am here for @dewayneforminneapolis.com.

Brehm: Why electing Omar Fateh mayor of Minneapolis would be a bad idea β€” and could help Trump "To call Sen. Fateh’s democratic socialist platform radical is an understatement," Andy Brehm writes.

If I have to answer for aligning myself with democratic socialists on a second ballot DFL endorsement vote, Frey fans need to do some soul searching on the Trumpers in their midst.

If the text was an attempt to remove enough delegates to prevent there from being a quorum in order to stop an endorsement vote, it backfired, said Hamline University political science professor David Schultz.

β€œIt’s not unusual to do something like that,” Schultz said. β€œBut when you do that, you want to make sure that you’re going to be effective.”

β€œI would be surprised if they overturned it,” Schultz said of the state DFL Party. β€œThat would be a significant second-guessing of what’s happening at the convention.”

Omar endorsement could signal new phase in Minneapolis politics
Omar is the first Somali American to carry the DFL endorsement for mayor of Minnesota’s largest city. If elected, he would be the first Somali American to serve in the office, and the first socialist in the post in more than a century.

β€œThis endorsement is a message that Minneapolis residents are done with broken promises, vetoes, and politics as usual,” Omar wrote on X following the endorsement. β€œIt’s a mandate to build a city that works for all of us.”

That Omar was able to break a long precedent of no endorsements for Minneapolis mayor is also telling, Schultz said, noting that the last time the party was united behind a candidate for that office was in 2009 with R.T. Rybak.

David Schultz, one of the two political pundits mainstream media talks to in Minnesota, is skeptical of Frey's convention tactics and challenge and notes the historic nature of Omar Fateh's victory.

I am incredibly honored to be one of the @mplsunions.bsky.social endorsed AND @mplsdfl.org endorsed candidates for park board!

The convention left no doubt that Minneapolis supports labor and wants a park board that will find consensus with park workers and rebuild their trust.

Solidarity!
