I’m working on some fun sideproject and I need a frontend. What’s latest the greatest combo for building frontends nowadays? What framework, CSS framework, and whatsoever to pick?
I’m thinking of Tailwind (free) for CSS, but can’t decide on anything else.
Backend is written in Go if that matters.

Bonus point for some right to the point tutorial for the recommended frameworks/tools. I know HTML, CSS (at least basics, maybe not those modern shenanigans), and JS/TS, it’s mainly those frameworks that are mystery to me 😂

Back in the days, in the school, I did Vue and Angular, but that has been some years ago, so a lot probably changed and I perhaps forgot how to use those.
AI recommends React + Vite or Vue, but I’ll be honest, I never heard about Vite. I heard mixed feedback about Nextjs so trying to avoid it.

Domain renewal is coming up soon. I remember some bad stories about GoDaddy, I’m wondering if I should use the opportunity to migrate somewhere else. Is GoDaddy still considered bad, and if yes, any recommendation for another register?

What plugins are you using, do you have any to recommend? I didn’t even know it has plugins. 😄
Are you paying for the sync feature between devices or are you fully relying on the GH integration?

I’m looking into a tool to keep my notes structured and organized. Google Notes and Docs are too hectic at this point.
I got recommended Obsidian by some folks, and I’m wondering if it’s still one of the best things out there or if you have anything else to recommend.

I was honestly expecting to get a lot more pushback on this post than I've gotten (so far ☺️).
I'll be the first to acknowledge there are issues with over-identifying with your work.
My counter would be, I think it's better than constructing your identity out of what you buy.

With that said… I’m also taking recommendations if there’s some better register than GoDaddy.
21.11.2024 00:23 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 2 📌 0
Opinion time! What DNS service for domains could you recommend? I’m currently using DigitalOcean, but I’m not their customer any longer, so I’m looking to switch to something more future proof.
I use GoDaddy as a domain register and I kinda hate the idea of using their UI to manage records.

This so very well said, I feel exactly the same.
Although, I’m struggling with finding side projects lately, but I got into open source work and non-tech hobbies instead. Both make me happy, so it’s good enough.

I, for some reason, didn’t think about ordering (or non-ordering) in this case, but that one can hurt a bit. I’ve definitely seen some nasty bugs over time because of that. 😅
And it always looks not so elegant when you try to circumvent it. 😅
