GenX school librarian, former elementary teacher. Embodying librarian cliches: glasses, cardigans, cats, coffee. Mostly indoorsy. Favorite animals: manatees, hedgehogs, axolotls.
Thank you so much!

15.01.2024 23:19 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0How about Boys in the Boat? Not officially a memoir, itโs narrative nonfiction, but does focus primarily on one personโs life. I enjoyed the young reader edition (which Iโve heard is tighter than the original). Definitely a fast and exciting read! Good luck!
07.12.2023 19:25 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0This makes me want to go back to the classroom so I can steal this unit. Incredible and inspiring. Thank you for sharing your time and talent.
07.12.2023 00:45 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Some of my colleagues and I make our own planners, bc our school is on a 6-day cycle, so the class/duty schedule changes each week.
Itโs a MASSIVE pain to createโฆ but once itโs done? Amazing. Canโt recommend it enough! Hope you enjoy your custom planner as much as I enjoy mine!
Super interested in this! Hope youโll consider sharing the process in a blog post or on a website after youโve presented it at a conference!

Do you have a Librarian one? Leave out the eye bags, stack of papers, and edits to the title and the rest is the same! ๐คฃ
Sold! Subscribed! Sat down and read the whole thing in one afternoon. Loved everything about it. Canโt wait to read more of your work!

23.11.2023 00:41 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Yep, thatโs me: all training, plus certification in 3 states, plus masters was for elementary Ed. Iโm also in San Diego, where most elementary schools donโt even have librarians ๐ญ๐ฉso itโs waaay off most ppls radar! Wish my school might pay for my MLIS, but afraid theyโll think Iโll jump ship!

22.11.2023 19:50 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I agree, but itโs tricky. When the only path to be certified is a Masters program and many important skills are learned on the job, itโs tough to justify.
Full disclosure: Iโm a non-certified school librarian (private school). Would I love to be certified? Yes! Do I want a 2nd Masterโs? Nope.
โNAEP proficient is not synonymous with grade level. NAEP officials urge that proficient not be interpreted as reflecting grade level work. It is a standard set much higher than that. Scholarly panels have reviewed the NAEP achievement standards and found them flawed.โ
22.11.2023 03:48 โ ๐ 10 ๐ 5 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 1When I see anyone refer to the โfactโ that 65% of kids are not proficient readers, I donโt trust anything else they say. This is either a misunderstanding or a misrepresentation of the NAEP data. Since it is easy to figure this out, they are either idiots or lying.
