Since we launched, we've been inundated with emails of supporter stories and opinions about changing the Alberta NDP name. So, we've decided to launch the APF Blog where supporters can share their perspectives.

We aren't asking the Alberta NDP or our fellow members to commit to a name change today.
We are asking to have an open conversation about the idea, its merits, and if it will give us a better chance of winning the next election.
We owe it to Albertans to do what it takes to bring a progressive government back into power.
Properly funding education, preserving public health care, and addressing climate change; these things are all more important than saving the NDP brand.
We can't if we don't win.
Having said that, we are not suggesting a name change is the only thing that can help the Alberta NDP.
But if our name is hurting us in places where we aren't winning seats (rural Alberta), we owe it to our candidates to give them a fighting chance at the doors.
We have seen that the Alberta NDP could be missing out on a significant chunk of voters who are open to voting for us.
In an election that was decided by a handful of votes in key ridings, we owe it to Albertans to find ways to welcome more people into our party.
The data is clear - the UCP's misinformation about the relationship between the Alberta NDP and the federal NDP has gotten through to voters.
Our policy always has been - and always will be - made in Alberta for Albertans.
But that is why we need to have the conversation.
The polling conducted by Janet Brown found that there was up to 24% of voters in the Alberta NDP universe that we could be missing out on - a number that could have changed the outcome of the election.
The name isn't the silver bullet to winning, but it is something to explore.
Max writes "it should open the door to as many new voters as possible rather than closing ranks around existing membership."
We totally agree. This conversation is about finding new ways to welcome individuals into our party ranks who may have never considered the Alberta NDP.
As we prepare to host our first consultation events, we want to hear from you! #ableg #abpoli

"A rebrand is about making sure that our policies are taken at face value and to make it clear to Albertans that the Alberta NDPβs policies are made in Alberta for Albertans."
Tune into Alberta Prime Time this evening as our director Brian Malkinson discusses Alberta's Progressive Future and the idea of rebranding the Alberta NDP.
