ACFC, what are you DOING? What a let down. Fire the whole front office and start over, honestly.

I think my concern is “healthy” is not actually an objective word; everyone is different. “Feeling healthy” is different for everyone but the public views healthy as a very specific concept that is morally charged.

I also ask: what responsibility those with such big followings have in terms of promoting real heath (not just thinness) & not perpetuating beliefs/behaviors that lead to eating disorders? To me, this is so tough because women’s bodies, & Black women’s bodies specifically, are so policed. 4/4

Bodily autonomy is paramount, but use of these meds solely for weight loss fuels societal hatred of fat and fat people. I don’t believe the majority of people on these drugs actually gave INFORMED consent, esp bc we don’t know long term effects of these drugs used for weight loss past 3 years. 3/4

This way of discussing GLP-1s is spreading misinformation and also insinuating that athletic bodies (like the best tennis player in the world has??!!) aren’t healthy if they’re not thin. Weight loss/a thin body does not = health. 2/4

Here’s MY problem with Serena doing a GLP-1 (for weight loss) advertisement. She absolutely has every right to do what she wants with her body, but in discussing its use, she talks about now being at a “healthy weight,” which is super vague and not actually a real thing. 1/4

I don't think we talk enough about how difficult it is when your career consists of constantly battling against diet culture and trying to make people understand that what they've been told their whole life is wrong/stigmatizing/harmful. Esp when you're in a larger body. Shit is exhausting.
