you do not want to be *in* the scene. it’s better to be scene-adjacent. exist at the edge of a few scenes, and perhaps even, find a friend group that dabbles in all of the ones you like but isn’t attached to any of them. indeed, the friend group is of a much higher aspiration than any scene

i think a major part of why I feel so much freer here is that the entire startup/VC part of my graph isn’t on here yet. i’ll probably always be a entrepreneur in some way, but damn, I am so over that culture

was already considering leaving twitter and reallocating my energy to private, cozy spaces, mostly IRL and group chats. maybe i’ll use this opportunity to go bluesky-only and see how that feels. if nothing else, I think we’ll experience a multi-month new energy honeymoon phase here
