Another comment suggesting landlords are getting aggressive about posting these notices so they can get the eviction clock started early, just in case. As of last March, Minneapolis doubled the notice requirement from 14 to 30 days.

friend at another mpls building told me she got an eviction notice today after never being late in six years. they have a five day grace period.

and the nonprofit landlords are sending heaps of eviction notices

Landlord (Yellow Tree) posting eviction notices before rent is even late in order to get a head start on the 30 day notice requirement in Minneapolis. "Just so if someone does need to be evicted."

There's been a lot of debate within the Democratic establishment about what rhetoric to use via ICE.

Well, an incumbent doesn't lose by 48 percentage points very oftenβ€”and her vote on collaborating with ICE was the defining issue here.

Walked out of City Hall and directly into this situation today, and promptly had two guns pointed at me.

Don't know if this adds up.

-$5.2 million on police overtime
-50,000 calls
-1,000 days off cancelled
-500 shift extensions
-9 officers injured
-14 PTSD cases
-strengthened regional partnerships
-deepened community relationships
-0 interventions or cases submitted related to rampaging federal agents

Not only has MPD not intervened in cases where feds use unlawful force, today we learned MPD has submitted nothing to the county attorney related to crimes committed by federal agents.

Since July, more than a dozen pregnant children have been moved to a single facility in the small town of San Benito, along the south Texas border. The children kept in Texas are as young as 13, and about half are pregnant because of rape, according to a joint investigation by the Texas Newsroom and the California Newsroom. In Texas, abortion is banned in nearly all circumstances, including rape and incest.

This was _wild_ to hear from them, truly. And a few testifiers said this, which is really important: a 30 day pause gives bureaucracy (city, county, applications) the time to implement the 1 mil in rent assistance the city is allocating to the county.

I went and testified that although my primary motivation in supporting this extension is that it is morally correct, data shows it’s also fiscally responsible Bc homelessness costs the community far more. I’ve worked in supportive housing & I truly don’t understand how housing orgs are against this

Nonprofits are hamstrung by a culture obsessed with avoiding someone getting something that they didn't deserve

Apparently Minnesota police officers are β€œafraid they might get arrested or something worse” if they intervene when ICE agents are doing crimes. Meanwhile they let thousands of unpaid, unarmed Minnesotans go ahead and intervene instead. Their cowardice is breathtaking

these bounty hunters reportedly picked someone up on the south side and took them to jail downtown, where this incident happened. i've heard they deployed less lethals outside of minneapolis city hall too

It’s wild that so called β€œaffordable housing” providers were advocating for people to face eviction & have to sleep out on the street. Residents have already been subsidizing their nonprofits w/ millions in mutual aid for their tenants to pay their rents. Remember this next time they beg for money.

NEW EPISODE posted last night: millcityhall.com/episodes/202...

We talked about the opposition to eviction relief mounting locally and statewide in yesterday. Unfortunately it seems today’s city hearing provides more evidence of that.

Robin asked: why would we hold landlords harmless?

03.03.2026 22:31 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 3    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

We've got way more need than donors today and eviction notices are starting to arrive. Can you sign a form to pay a rent directly or can you venmo us so our team of volunteers can pay more rents?!🌻

Mpls Ward 11 get on your council member about this.

Hard.

Wards 7 & 5 keep after yours as well.

Pick it up & don’t let them have peace about this.

Final vote is this Thursday, March 5, 2026.

It’s so crazy that I’m going into credit card debt paying rent, buying groceries for people trapped in their homes & trying to keep local business alive and the Mayor is taking credit for that stuff in national media interviews/ puff pieces while buying a 700k house in the richest ward Of the city.

we appear to have four competing fascist movements jockeying for control: blood & soil nazism under miller and hegseth, darwinian ecofascism from rfk, technofascism under vance and musk, and one Big Wet Hitler who understands the true animating core of the american volk is a deep love for shopping

landlords have gotten off the easiest of anyone. targeted workers lost income staying home/working less. real business owners lost business if they felt safe to open at all. but tons of ordinary people are busting their asses to pay LLs bc gvt decided for THEM to take this hit is too much. WHY??!!!!
