He’s from a part of Texas where I spent big chunks of my childhood and lots of my family is from so I can’t help but root for him. But I wish he’d do less.

Actually all the women in β€œHell or High Water” were good characters. I think Sheridan churns out too much stuff and hurting women so men can get mad about it is the easiest narrative shortcut

Nobody was brutally assaulting the waitress in β€œHell or High Water”

I think it was mostly because they got to say stuff like β€œhey sir, I gotta go shit in the bag again” β€œhey sir, wanna look at my sample”

Company Command was fun.

Somehow Liver King returned.

I was amazed at the enthusiasm some of my soldiers displayed for the whole endeavor.

Cobra Gold 2004 or 2005 ish the docs were paying soldiers for stool samples to study everyone shitting themselves from the local cuisine, which was great but admittedly hard on the bowels.

But it has been written into public facing documents and used in testimony before Congress.

β€œWar-user” would have been lame.

Longtime Atlantic subscriber and really appreciated β€œThe Military Isn’t MAGA” so it seems like you’re really missing an opportunity for insight/material by doubling down on a weakened position.

I bet you can find senior leaders using this term to Congress pretty quickly going back several administrations. Be an interesting drinking game.

But it’s not really a new ideology or agenda at all. It’s been simmering for years and many of us have been sounding the alarm. But you’re correct that it is now front, center, and dangerously in everyone’s face. And there is a significant risk that it culminates in something really ugly.

It is intellectually dishonest and therefore harmful to your loved one to blame everything on Hegseth while veterans who experienced/write/think about this stuff are telling you otherwise. In other words it doesn’t end when Hegseth is gone.

Take the β€œL” dude. We were all there.

Hegseth is really just a manifestation of a generation of intellectual rot in DoD. GWOT brain is real, and he’s got a terminal case.

27.02.2026 16:28 β€” πŸ‘ 35    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 4    πŸ“Œ 0

DoD has been using that language for years. Where do you thing Hegseth got it?

Not a Hegseth thing at all but he’s elevated it to maximum cringe.

Damn my cooks were the best. My food service NCO was one of the best fucking soldiers I ever met. Hands down, no contest. My cooks had a better PT average than my mechanics which says a lot.

My grandmom had a masters in German literature from Johns Hopkins and worked on the enigma machines and died of Alzheimer’s. Sucked to watch.
