The first two of six panels illustrating key turning points in the life and relationship of Wangxian. In the first panel, a red string connects them at their first meeting, but by the second it has stretched into a huge tangle.

Panels three and four of six panels illustrating key turning points in the life and relationship of Wangxian. In the first of these two panels, their red string has broken with the death of one side. In the second, a young man ties the broken ends back together.

The last two of six panels illustrating key turning points in the life and relationship of Wangxian. In the first, Wei Wuxian pays thanks to his past (and Mo Xuanyu), the string between him and Lan Wangji now retied. In the second, reaches for Lan Wangji's hands, ready to go home, their string now short in distance, indicating the distance between their hearts.
