The Top8 in each distance (except the 50 Free) got faster at each Olympics. Notably and surprisingly, the time to make it through the heats was slowest since at least 2012 😬 The only exception here again? 50 Free

🔵🟡⚫🟢🔴 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘀 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰 - 𝗪𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻'𝘀 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲
The 100 Fly as well as the 200 IM are getting faster throughout the whole field with each Olympics.
This is clearly not the case for the 200 Fly and 400 IM, which are slowing down year after year.

This does not apply for the results to make it into semis or finals. Those times are not improving since 2012(!), except for the 100 breaststroke.

The women's Backstroke and Breaststroke performances both were on an upward trajectory concerning the Top3, except for the 200 breaststroke.

The results in the medley relay on the other hand reflect the top-end improvement pretty well the.

Although the global swimming community seems to get faster year after year, the freestyle relays didn't show any progress from Tokyo to Paris. Notably, the Brits won 🥇 on both occasions with the same ensemble 😬

Incredible progress in the 100 fly and a huge leap forward in the 200 fly. Nearly no progress in the 200 IM since Tokyo and the 400 IM gelingt confirmation in being unpredictable 😁
