She’d Never Changed Her Gender Marker. Kansas Invalidated Her License Anyway. — Assigned A trans Kansas resident recently changed her name but not her gender marker on her license, fearing what Kansas may do if she did. The Kansas DMV still flagged her ID.

This story, from @natezuke.bsky.social, is absolutely wild. A trans woman who never changed her gender marker was issued a letter invalidating her license. At the DMV they cut up her license, which had an "M" marker.

Has anyone who reads Japanese fluently read the 2009 Gakken translation of The Last Unicorn? I'm only a couple pages in, and my impression already is...not very good. Is my own comprehension and/or cultural positionality impeding my ability judge it? Are there better translations?

Abolish the legal gender marker entirely. No government can be trusted to have a database of which people have changed theirs, no government has any business tracking what your gender is "supposed" to be in the first place.

I'm in Kansas and yes, this is 100% to terrorize - and also it will cause and has already caused irreparable harm. It's not the only law out of a barrage of anti-trans laws pushed through in Kansas recently. Our Dem governor vetoed and was overruled.

We shouldn't have gender markers on IDs to begin with, but we aren't even allowed to have shitty things, much less nice things.

Inside the Dilley detention facility where 5-year-old Liam Conejo-Ramos is being held Protests took place this weekend at the detention center in Dilley, Texas, where a 5-year-old Columbia Heights boy and his father are being held. The two were detained by ICE in Minnesota last Friday.
