The colortober prompt list from Case for Making

I'm going to attempt a variant of Inktober this month! I love the idea of #colortober from Case for Making and have prepared wooden tiles with an equivalent color from their list to collage on. That makes the prompt color the background every day-- and I do love a rules-based project 😆

I've had an idea to do some architecture-inspired collages based on places that I run past that catch my eye for whatever reason. I really liked the pop of salmon pink on this place from my run last Sunday!

I found this PDF that appears to contextualize it a little bit, but I still don't understand the color piece of it, which is the most intriguing to me! Might have to do more digging later.

I had to do some googling because I was similarly intrigued-- looks like a visual representation of the Beth-Luis-Nion Tree Alphabet (or Celtic Tree Calendar)? It is part of a body of his work called Alchera

Fulfilled a very specific Philly bucket list item today: I hiked between two SEPTA stations through the Wissahickon-- saw Rittenhouse Town, the Henry Ave bridge, and Kelpius Cave. Looking forward to tackling a longer version of this car-free hike when I have a whole day!

I'm scheming another tiny art kit and somehow none of my pencils are short enough for the task-- leave it to the resource exchange to have a full grab bag of short pencils and even a tiny brush!

Earlier this week I made a piece of mail art that I liked too much to send, so I made another inspired partially by its envelope (seen here peeking out from under the art!). I keep forgetting how much I like adding pattern to these shapes with colored pencil.

My last-minute February mail art submission is very "reduce, reuse, recycle" themed-- I used two envelopes I received at work this week alongside scrap paper from my January mail art! Also dipping a toe back into embroidering paper.

The energy piece is harder between the news and work stress-- I have no magic formula there at the moment besides reminding myself that once I get started I'll get into a groove. That has been mostly true!

In this case, I was really just trying to iterate on the things that have been most exciting to me recently. In this case: the random colors, the stars, and the "paper quilt" idea (I want to assemble these into one piece at the end of the week!)
