Citizens for a Fair Ferndale is hosting a candidate forum this Sunday at 2 PM in the Library. I will be answering audience questions and I would love to see you there.

I will always stand for fairness, dignity, and safe working conditions for everyone in Ferndale. Thank you to UAW Region 1 for trusting me. Together we can support all kinds of workers in our area.

They also represent university and community college faculty, public sector attorneys, engineers and technical specialists, clerical staff, and skilled trades and public service workers. It's a wonderful cross section of people caring for our community.

I am honored to share that I’ve received the endorsement of UAW Region 1! Many people know the UAW for representing workers in auto manufacturing, but UAW represents workers far beyond that industry.

Many residents spoke during public comment to share their perspectives, and I was one of them. I joined others in voicing opposition to renewing the contract. A vote is expected to take place at the Council Meeting on October 13th. Watch my comment here:

Tonight’s City Council meeting included a tough but important conversation about the proposed renewal of the city’s contract with Flock. For those who aren’t familiar, Flock is a network of license plate–reading cameras that automatically record plates as cars pass by.

I believe Ferndale's strength comes from balancing responsibility with vision. Keeping our city services reliable while making smart investments will serve us well for the next generation. I would be honored to earn your vote on November 4th (or sooner by absentee ballot).

Here are some of my top priorities:
Improve public safety buildings for our first responders
Keep essential services strong
Make the city budget clearer
Partner regionally to save money and share resources
Invest in trees, parks, and flood protection
Support recreation and a community center

I've also served on the Environmental Sustainability Commission since 2019, working to protect our community's environment and natural resources. Last year, I was honored to be named Ferndale Citizen of the Year by Mayor Leaks-May.

I'm proud to call Ferndale home and to give back as a dedicated resident volunteer. Over the years I've served on the Finance Review Committee (where we worked to make city finances easier to understand), the Facilities Task Force, and the Master Land Use/Climate Action Plan Steering Team.

Ferndale needs to partner more closely with the County to share knowledge. I will work to deepen this relationship so Ferndale can make the most of County programs and keep our community thriving.

80% of our city employees are represented by unions. They keep our community running every single day. Police officers and firefighters respond in emergencies, clerical staff keep City Hall operating, and DPW crews maintain our infrastructure. These workers form the backbone of our city.
