I also love visiting Bakehouse 46 on Nine Mile and I definitely recommend the cinnamon sugar donut. Literal hot tip: put it in the microwave for 10 seconds before eating. #ShopLocal

Now with twice as much Quinn! I met up with Quinn Wright from Madison Heights City Council to talk about how cities can collaborate in our region. Great things can happen when we're caring for our community locally, across the county, and with cities all around the state.

Throughout the year, they incorporate accessibility reviews into the site plan approval process for developments and work with Ferndale businesses to identify accessibility improvement opportunities.

Last night was the Ferndale Accessibility & Inclusion Advisory Commission annual ice cream social! I'm thankful for the volunteer residents who are caring for our community through service on this commission. In addition to this event, FAIAC organizes the Sensory Station at Ferndale Pride.

With temps in Ferndale feeling like 100°, everyone can take steps to stay safe and help neighbors. I serve on Ferndale’s Environmental Sustainability Commission and work in energy efficiency, and I want to share a few tips. Some are actions you can take right now and others can help in the future.

(5/5) I’m proud that Ferndale recognizes Juneteenth National Freedom Day. As our city’s resolution states, it is “a time for reflection, celebration, and a reminder… that our highest aspirations for equity, justice, and inclusion is to continue to work for change that is still urgently needed.”

(4/5) Juneteenth commemorates the day the last enslaved Black Americans learned they were free. Delivery of the news of their freedom was withheld 2+ years after the Emancipation Proclamation. Juneteenth is a celebration of Black resilience and a call to keep striving for a more just future.

(2/3) We donated it to Habitat for Humanity, replaced it with a base model hybrid sedan, and cut our gas use. I’m sharing this because frugality and getting full value from what we already have is how I live. It's also how I’ll approach spending if I’m elected to City Council.

🧵 (1/3) Last week I said goodbye to my 2002 Mazda Protegé after 20-plus years, 160,000+ miles, a taped-on mirror, a check engine light that never quit, and a trunk that had to be tied shut with trash in a parking garage. It wasn’t pretty, but it worked…until it didn’t.
