Your Community Needs You
Many of our long-time residents don’t know about the incredible opportunities to care for our community through Ferndale’s various resident-led boards and commissions.
I chatted with a neighbor who has lived in Ferndale for 10+ years. When I mentioned that I’ve served on the Environmental Sustainability Commission since 2019, she looked at me with surprise. “Ferndale has resident commissions?” Yep! Learn more and get started: quinnforferndale.com/2025/08/11/y...

Invasive Species Watch: Tree of Heaven - News - Ferndale
I've served on Ferndale's Environmental Sustainability Commission for the past six years. Read our article on safely removing the invasive Tree of Heaven, a host plant for the coming wave of Spotted Lanternfly. Special thanks to Mozhgon Rajaee for leading the way! ferndalemi.gov/news/tree-of...

Quinn smiling and holding a donut. She is standing in front of a display case filled with cupcakes.
I also love visiting Bakehouse 46 on Nine Mile and I definitely recommend the cinnamon sugar donut. Literal hot tip: put it in the microwave for 10 seconds before eating. #ShopLocal

Quinn Wright (left) and Quinn Zeagler (right) stand in front of Bakehouse 46.
Now with twice as much Quinn! I met up with Quinn Wright from Madison Heights City Council to talk about how cities can collaborate in our region. Great things can happen when we're caring for our community locally, across the county, and with cities all around the state.

Mayor Raylon Leaks-May and Quinn Zeagler are smiling in front of the flag.
Throughout the year, they incorporate accessibility reviews into the site plan approval process for developments and work with Ferndale businesses to identify accessibility improvement opportunities.
This commission has a few seats open, so if you are looking for a way to get involved, please apply!

Alan Hejl and Quinn Zeagler are smiling in front of the Disability Pride Flag. The flag is five stripes going from the upper left to bottom right (from top to bottom, the stripes are green, blue, white, yellow, and red) on a gray background. Quinn's nametag identifies her as a lip reader.
Fourteen people spread around the room enjoying the event.
Last night was the Ferndale Accessibility & Inclusion Advisory Commission annual ice cream social! I'm thankful for the volunteer residents who are caring for our community through service on this commission. In addition to this event, FAIAC organizes the Sensory Station at Ferndale Pride.

Quinn is smiling in front of a banner that reads "Ferndale Market Days." Vendor tents are in the background behind the banner.
I love how Ferndale gathers together to celebrate! I stopped by Ferndale Market Days this weekend to check out the great vendors. If you see me out and about, please say hi!

The exterior of the Oak Park Community Center. The word Recreation is on a sign above the entrance.
With temps in Ferndale feeling like 100°, everyone can take steps to stay safe and help neighbors. I serve on Ferndale’s Environmental Sustainability Commission and work in energy efficiency, and I want to share a few tips. Some are actions you can take right now and others can help in the future.

(5/5) I’m proud that Ferndale recognizes Juneteenth National Freedom Day. As our city’s resolution states, it is “a time for reflection, celebration, and a reminder… that our highest aspirations for equity, justice, and inclusion is to continue to work for change that is still urgently needed.”

A small Juneteenth flag with yellow fringe. The flag reads Juneteenth June 19, 1865. The top of the flag is blue and the bottom of the flag is red. In the center is a white five point star surrounded by a white 12-point star.
(4/5) Juneteenth commemorates the day the last enslaved Black Americans learned they were free. Delivery of the news of their freedom was withheld 2+ years after the Emancipation Proclamation. Juneteenth is a celebration of Black resilience and a call to keep striving for a more just future.

Mayor Raylon Leaks-May helps several children at a flagpole.
(3/5) Three proud and poised third graders read poetry and an excerpt from Born on the Water, bringing both history and hope to life in front of the crowd.

Dr. Hibbler stands at a podium.
(2/5) Dr. Hibbler described Juneteenth as “about freedom, but it’s also about the delayed delivery of that freedom. It’s about the intentional withholding of justice. It’s about a people doing more than their fair share of waiting but never lost their belief in what could be.”

Mayor Raylon Leaks-May stands in front of a podium, smiling.
🧵(1/5) I had the pleasure of attending Ferndale’s Juneteenth flag raising outside City Hall today. Mayor Raylon Leaks-May and Ferndale Schools Superintendent Dr. Camille Hibbler offered moving remarks.

I want Ferndale to maintain what’s working, spend wisely, and advocate for better transit so car ownership isn’t the only option.

Quinn standing on a porch, watching while a silver car (with only one hubcap) is loaded onto a tow truck.
(2/3) We donated it to Habitat for Humanity, replaced it with a base model hybrid sedan, and cut our gas use. I’m sharing this because frugality and getting full value from what we already have is how I live. It's also how I’ll approach spending if I’m elected to City Council.

Quinn smiling in front of the closed trunk of a silver car. There is no license plate on the car.
🧵 (1/3) Last week I said goodbye to my 2002 Mazda Protegé after 20-plus years, 160,000+ miles, a taped-on mirror, a check engine light that never quit, and a trunk that had to be tied shut with trash in a parking garage. It wasn’t pretty, but it worked…until it didn’t.

I'm running for City Council this Nov. because I want to put my hands-on experience to work for all of us. With your support, I'll bring my dedication, financial know-how, and collaborative approach to build a more vibrant, inclusive, and sustainable community—a place we can be proud to call home.

Yesterday was the 🏳️🌈 raising at City Hall. Folks from Affirmations gave moving remarks on the importance of this symbol to them and their joy at being part of Ferndale’s community. Join in the festivities today starting at 12:30 on W 9 Mile. And stop by my booth in front of Ferndale Haus to say hi!
