32 | he/they | BLM | TLM Hi! I play a lot of games, grew up on Nintendo, and I’ve been reliably told that I’m a pretty good baker. love game dev/prototypes, retro handhelds, and all the behind the scenes stuff that goes into how games get made.
Fuckin’ sick

09.08.2025 23:32 — 👍 517 🔁 166 💬 2 📌 0I like to think about Speedtree and how it’s used across TV, film, and games so an artist doesn’t have to model/simulate an entire forest, and that’s a “yeah, obviously” use for procgen stuff
It should be used to empower creatives, not replace them.
Buuut, capitalism being what it is…

growing up I was kind of a hypocritical jackass to friends about the art they liked and I think as I got older my attitude really mellowed out and this describes how I feel pretty succinctly now

09.08.2025 03:29 — 👍 8544 🔁 1666 💬 62 📌 6An image with a meme-friendly format presents two crude parchment paper maps side-by-side. Most of both maps is hidden from the viewer by a sort of fog, similar to how an RPG video game would express unexplored areas. In the one on the left, titled “algorithmic discovery” (with scare-quotes), there are random dots of missing fog all over the map, with no paths between them, but they reveal almost nothing of interest. In the one on the right, titled “finding music the old-fashioned way” (without scare-quotes), many different crudely drawn features (a forest, mountains, a graveyard, people, some kind of dragon or snake, a castle, etc) can be seen, and the branching paths through the fog make it clear how the explorer got from one place to the other. They are the same map except for the pattern of fog, but the latter one is much more interesting.
a visual metaphor for why i hate algorithmic feeds finally hit me

spending time getting mad about things you don’t like, when there is more stuff out there than you could EVER conceivably enjoy in a lifetime is, frankly, loser shit

Ludocene is a game discovery app that recommends your new favorite game based on your tastes.
A nifty feature is that you can choose Experts you trust to guide your recommendations, like myself!
Give it a try.
Tem, try rice flour to help with it sticking! It doesn’t absorb into the dough while proofing like regular flour does, and it should make it easier to transfer
But really if it tastes good that’s all that matters

Windows’ implementation is the most usable, at least, so far
Bazzite worked, but it involved Proton-GE builds, and launch commands, and gamescope, and SOMETIMES all of them played nice together
