One of the most deliciously bonkers paintings of all time. It is set in a semicircular composition, suggesting that it was perhaps originally include in some architectural setting. An owl, at center, is perched on the upper edge of a volume of sheet music, in which the musical notes are rendered by the silhouettes of running mice. All sorts of cats are around, some with opened mouths as if screeching, others playing instruments. Perched next to the owl is a small demon-like figure with a trumpet emerging from its butt. If you don't like this painting then I'm sorry but it means you're an unfeeling, cold-hearted son-of-a-bitch
On #SuperbOwlSunday, the absolutely most superb owl appearing in what has to be one of my favorite artworks of all time (not joking at all, I'm totally serious about this): Cats Singing Instructed by an Owl, a c. 1700 painting by an unidentified artist, who was clearly an unrecognized genius
