01.07.2025 17:28 β π 153 π 60 π¬ 2 π 0My immediate thoughts on the most monstrous, immoral piece of legislation Iβve ever voted on in the Senate.
But Iβm not done fighting. I know you arenβt either.
Circling back to the separation of powers principles covered earlier in this decision, the Executive Branch is vested with the power and is imbued with the responsibility to faithfully execute the laws which govern the governance structure of our country. The Executive Branch does not have the authority to order, organize, or implement wholesale changes to the structure and function of the agencies created by Congress. As Judge Smith in this district court recently warned when presented with the declining depth of civics education in public schools, βwe may choose to survive as a country by respecting our Constitution, the laws and norms of political and civic behavior, and by educating our children on civics, the rule of law, and what it really means to be an American, and what America means. Or, we may ignore these things at our and their peril.β

I blame every person who voted for him.
The Big Ugly Bill would have zero support if the 38% would stop buying the lie that the only people who are going to lose Medicaid are undocumented immigrants!
π The idea that undocumented immigrants are draining Medicaid is a political talking point, not a fact.

What scares me most is this ICE officer who is just doing his job.
It is a heartbreaking day for many, many people who worked in the broader foreign assistance, foreign policy, and journalism worlds. USAID, RFE/RL, Radio Free Asiaβall illegally closed. Hundreds of State Dept employees being laid off right now. Hundreds more grants being terminated.

It sounds like reductio ad absurdum, but so did the argument that the president would be immune from prosecution if he ordered Seal Team 6 to kill his political opponents. Then the Court said yeah, actually, he can't be prosecuted for that because giving orders to the military is an official act.
27.06.2025 16:35 β π 7 π 2 π¬ 1 π 0If Trump then makes an example of women who tried to vote by publicly flogging 1,000 of them, is he immune from prosecution because enforcing his executive order is an "official" act? Can he pardon everyone who carries out the floggings? Seems like the Court has said "yes" to all of it.
