I think the issue is more that these bosses have a lot of OPINIONS about how tasks are done, while not being capable of doing the tasks themselves. One wonders what makes them authorities on things they can't accomplish on their own. They'll take all the credit, though. It's irritating.

I love my senators! Although when I'm full of righteous rage over some new affront and the call is out to "call your Congress people!" I can get a little sad because I know everyone I voted to represent me is doing the right thing already. My dudgeon is fussy about this.

I use raw turbinado sugar for most everything and I think it's a really good compromise between glycemic index and baking friendliness. I like the way the big crystals caramelize.

I worked for a delivery company where that was a nightly job--we'd meet the plane on the flight line with its engines still running, yank our bags off and it would be taxiing away in minutes. Then off to the processing center. Repeat four times a night. Intense in an Oregon winter, I tell ya.

Seriously, the Gilroy cookbooks are so full of amazing recipes they should issue a combined edition with all the yearly books included. The lamb shanks with barley is so freaking good people lose their minds, but man is it a PITA to make.

How about Transylvanian Carrots from one of the Gilroy Garlic cookbooks? Basically, in a skillet, melt butter and saute about a metric buttload o'garlic, add rounds of thinnish cut carrot, a bit of water and turn up the heat. Let the sauce reduce down and you get sweet, garlicky, buttery carrots.

Oh, he'd hate me--there's this super thick oyster sauce I love that's pure umami and I toss it into a lot of stuff to deepen the flavor profile. I LOVE the shocked looks I get, "OMG you're putting FISH in it????" Buncha barbarians.
