The idea that a person surviving a sacrifice lessens the sacrifice is gross.
The fact the character is willing to save another is what ultimately matters, not that it results in a corpse.

… like a permanent life-changing injury (like soldiers often face), it doesn’t change the fact he still risked everything to save his squad/family. I’m so sick of writers using ultimate sacrifice as an easy-out plot device. Either show the grief/loss/trauma it causes or figure out a better story 😠

THIS!!!!! I swear. Take Tech.. the amount of comments like “his sacrifice would have no meaning” if Disney brought back Tech literally made me want to scream. If Tech survived his cut the rope trope, uber-military soldier self-sacrifice, but it came with a cost….. (cont….)

Sacrifice in fiction being this be all end all goal for characters that can't ever be walked back or questioned is imo very silly.

I’m still think there was going to be 4 seasons of The Bad Batch and it was cut to three during Covid; now I think Bob Igor had something to do with it and in keeping Tech from returning. It would explain why things were so poorly handled in regards to his character in S3. Anywho- #TechLives 🫡

Ugh. I hear ya. For me- it’s both the news about the Ben Solo movie and me still not over how poorly Tech’s story from the Bad Batch was sidelined for shock value. No more mythic fantasy and hope for kids in PG rated Star Wars stories; just contemporary-realism and death these days apparently

Legendary artist Drew Struzan has sadly passed away at the age of 78 after a battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.

Struzan designed the posters for the original 6 Star Wars movies. He also created iconic posters for Back to the Future, Blade Runner, Indiana Jones, and more.

I could write an entire thesis on this whole topic but I’m tired my friend. The worst part is that in western media, writers rarely take into account the amount of grief and mental trauma that “sacrifice” leaves on those left behind; it’s either barely mentioned or conveniently time-skipped over

I finally canceled Disney+. After they sacrificed Tech from #TheBadBatch, Star Wars just hasn’t felt the same for me. Then, when I saw both Tech and Echo were excluded in #RebuildtheGalaxy and knowing what ABC did to Kimmel, I felt it was time 😔
