Opinion | How to Make Spring Safer for Wildlife (Gift Article)
I wish everyone would slow down. The least we can do is to give our wild neighbors time to cross the roads we have built through the middle of their homes.
We arenβt entirely powerless in the face of this destruction, but until we find the political will to fight for what we love, and to hold our elected officials to account, the very least we can do is to protect the nearby wildlife we have the power to protect.

Dawn is a little brighter, birdsong a little louder...The countdown to spring has begun, and nature knows it!
Birds are defending territories, scouting nest sites, and thinking about pairing up...
Have you noticed any shifts in activity?

This soup used all of my pots and pans, made a mess of my kitchen, and caused me to slice my finger but it was delicious

Seeing other peopleβs reading recaps have 50+ books vs. me struggling to hit my goal of 10 but I did it anyways (I read 6/10 in December oops) and enjoyed them all. Looking for 2025 suggestions!

Seeing Short-eared Owls in this field thatβs been kept long for the first time since Iβve been doing these surveys π«Ά seeing birds for the purpose of furthering their conservation and protecting their habitat is SO much more fulfilling than adding them to a list or getting a good picture.
