I can't say we're much better in Ireland, if you watched the Irish news you'd swear the US, UK and sometimes EU were the only other countries in the world... we are a tiny island tho, to be fair, not a superpower

And yes, you could read a headline like that and be immediately triggered (as I was) but writers rarely have a say on the final headline on their work. I've pitched (at least what I think) are great headlines only to cringe at the published headline, to the point of not wanting to share the article!

24.02.2026 11:41 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

This is a lesson, for myself as well, in not leaping to conclusions from a headline... the article is behind a paywall but the author is openly autistic & the subheading reads: "I've become an expert."

Yes, it's clickbait, but screenshotting the headline feels like ragebait & purposely misleading

Genuine question: is it normal in the US to pay $5000, $6000 or more for a writing retreat led by a famous writer? Like, how can ordinary people, never mind writers scraping by, afford/justify spending two month's salary to spend five days with a writer?

But do yearly reading goals actually help us read better, or do they risk hollowing out the very activity they claim to protect? As reading is increasingly tracked and performed online there is a growing sense that a solitary pleasure is being reshaped by the logic of metrics and visibility. Grok Exposed a Porn Performer’s Legal Name and Birthdateβ€”Without Even Being Asked In the latest in a string of privacy abuses from the chatbot, Grok provided porn performer Siri Dahl's full legal name and birthdate to the public, information she'd protected until now.

Porn performer Siri Dahl’s personal information, including her full legal name and birthday, was publicly exposed earlier this month by Grok. Dahl told 404 Media she wanted to reclaim the situation, and her name, and asked that it be published in this piece.
