I’m not disappointed, I’m mad. The entire benefit, even purpose, of growing a city’s population is to improve services with the added tax revenue. Cutting services when the population has grown is a special kind of corruption.

This headline is poorly written. If anyone actually reads the article, these are three separate stories.

Religion is taught in public schools, and kids get reprimanded for non-compliance with the holiday, even if they don’t celebrate it themselves.

I get that many don’t feel like Santa and Christmas trees are Christian traditions. Apart from Santa being based on St. Nick, all customs deemed “non-religious” were co-opted from Pagans in order to convert them.

I’ve been thinking about this in light of the repression happening in my home town of QC. Teachers and daycare workers can’t wear religious symbols, end of subsidies to private religious schools, but all public schools and daycares must teach about Christmas.

Strangely controversial opinion: Small Children who don’t celebrate Christmas should not be held responsible for maintaining the magic. They can’t be expected to understand that it’s ok to lie about Santa. Parents need to be prepared for kids being exposed to diverse beliefs and traditions.
