I’d rather be excluded for whom I include, than included for whom I exclude. Queer aro/ace cat dad in San Francisco.

Tried looking up a quote from a book by memory and forgot to add “-ai” to my search and was promptly consoled by my search engine, who told me my feelings are valid.

I fucking hate it here.

While ordering wonton soup was a good idea for my rumbly tummy and tired spirit, I now still have everything back except wonton soup.

Now would be a good time for anyone who wants to learn about recent Iranian history to read this. It is well worth your time and money (I am sure your local library has it if you don’t want to purchase it).

Most Americans know nothing about real history. Did you know about that with U.S. support, the Indonesian military slaughtered as many as 1 million people in 1965-66? Victims were mostly ordinary citizens accused of communist sympathies. The U.S. provided lists, weapons, and monetary support, enabling one of the most horrifying bloodbaths of the 20th century. There is a whole history of U.S.-backed genocides I encourage people to learn more about.
To this day, the best thing any teacher I've had has done for their class, was for my high school sophomore history teacher to provide a list of international coups, atrocities, etc and ask the class which governments were responsible for each of the 50 or so listed events.
Plot twist: the US of A was responsible for all of them. I watched the star quarterback have a crisis of conscience right there in class.

From my IG feed a year or so ago.

The United States of America is not, nor has it ever been, a force for good in this world.

Other presidents may not have done it as loudly, brazenly, or “illegally” but that doesn’t mean it wouldn’t have been done, somehow.

Whenever I feel excluded from the local gay scene I find solace in the fact I’ve never met a cat that didn’t love me.

There has never been a better time to accept and vocalize that Jews and the Israeli government are not the same thing. Yes, the Israeli government has worked hard for decades to make us believe opposing its actions is inherently antisemitic. But it isn’t true. It never was.

Bombing Iranian schools is wrong, with or without Congressional approval.

Bombing Palestinian schools was also wrong, despite full-throated Congressional approval.

Allowing/permitting the latter while condemning the former is inhumanely hypocritical.

Speaking super locally, just reminding my Castro/Mission neighbors that Manny Yekutiel is a staunch defender of Israel and voting him in as our D8 supervisor is an endorsement of the current aggression in the SWANA region.

It might feel cathartic to point at a single election or bloc of voters and say “that’s when it happened, it’s their fault!” but the reality is a roiling mass of disparate events lead to a point, and there are MANY chances to avoid different outcomes.

We also could have avoided all this if Biden/Harris had listened to us in 2023 and 2024 and “preemptively” reigned in Israel’s slaughter of Palestinians, which we all said would escalate into this. Trump would not have had the runway to take off on these plans in the first place.

America as a country and society is fucked because we, as citizens, are all too happy to relinquish our collective power for the illusion of individual comfort. And that illusion has been fading fast.

Don’t want wars? Vote for anti-war candidates. Not polite-war candidates (or outright war-mongering candidates).

I say this tongue in cheek (tho it’s true) because people like pointing blame at each other instead of addressing the task at hand.

When asked her specific view on whether trans people should have medical access she gave an “all lives matter” response and broadened her answer to talk about healthcare in general.

In case anyone is confused why queer and trans people were hesitant to throw their vote behind her.

Thinking about Kansas & that interview where Harris was all “we must fight these unjust laws about abortion access!” and the next question was about social and medical transitioning and her response was “the law is the law” despite the interviewer asking her 3 times if that was actually her answer.

Almost done. Finish the neckline, steam block the colorwork bits, cut open the front, and make the shawl collar and button band.

Having a hard time figuring out how to exist today. Chronic flare ups have been zapping my energy, haven’t seen any friends in weeks, and work just keeps demanding my attention despite lack of fortitude.

Someone invite me to a chill game night or something 😩
