There has never been a better time to accept and vocalize that Jews and the Israeli government are not the same thing. Yes, the Israeli government has worked hard for decades to make us believe opposing its actions is inherently antisemitic. But it isn’t true. It never was.

Bombing Iranian schools is wrong, with or without Congressional approval.

Bombing Palestinian schools was also wrong, despite full-throated Congressional approval.

Allowing/permitting the latter while condemning the former is inhumanely hypocritical.

Speaking super locally, just reminding my Castro/Mission neighbors that Manny Yekutiel is a staunch defender of Israel and voting him in as our D8 supervisor is an endorsement of the current aggression in the SWANA region.

It might feel cathartic to point at a single election or bloc of voters and say “that’s when it happened, it’s their fault!” but the reality is a roiling mass of disparate events lead to a point, and there are MANY chances to avoid different outcomes.

We also could have avoided all this if Biden/Harris had listened to us in 2023 and 2024 and “preemptively” reigned in Israel’s slaughter of Palestinians, which we all said would escalate into this. Trump would not have had the runway to take off on these plans in the first place.

America as a country and society is fucked because we, as citizens, are all too happy to relinquish our collective power for the illusion of individual comfort. And that illusion has been fading fast.

Don’t want wars? Vote for anti-war candidates. Not polite-war candidates (or outright war-mongering candidates).

I say this tongue in cheek (tho it’s true) because people like pointing blame at each other instead of addressing the task at hand.

Picking up the energy a lot of people are laying down, and I’m gonna add that we could have avoided all of this if everyone voted socialist.*
