I was a VFX artist (the film/tv kind) for like 13 years. On one hand, the job requires a LOT more obsession over details that can drive you mad.
But you don't need to worry as much about optimizing, unless the scene is literally maxing out RAM or taking 10 hours to render a frame.

Bad: Doesn't work when it should.

Very Bad: Works when it shouldn't.

Bug turned out to be a silly little thing instead of me misunderstanding something fundamental about replication again.

It's exciting getting into byte data types to save on multiplayer bandwidth. I've never had much use for them in single player, what with out magnificent modern computer machines.
