Local authorities raise their own funds by setting the level of local property tax, commercial rates and fees for services like parking. They then use that money as they please. The tax rates and what they spend it on are decided by the county councillors at the annual budget.

More apartments for Stillorgan! - 377 granted permission last week for the site of Blakes restaurant, to add to the 232 built over Leisureplex and the 88 council flats being built over the old library. Planning battles have been running at the vacant Blakes site for 20yrs - so I hope it gets built.

I took this photo on 1st June 2020 early in the government negotiations.
As we are working towards the #ge24, I can see that we got most of these things done but of course we also achieved things we hadn't foreseen like half price youth travel.
