Bombing schools is not self defense. It’s not a β€œpreemptive strike” because the school was never going to bomb anyone

In response to a viral story abt a child hospitalized for measles bec of anti-vax parents many are calling to take children away from parents who wont vaccinate. While well intentioned such a policy will only increase family separation of marginalized communities open.substack.com/pub/miabrett...

There’s a case I remember from law school in which indigenous parents lost custody because they didn’t seek medical attention fast enough but I can’t find it. Is this ringing a bell to anyone?

NYTimes ran an article on laws in OK & NY to allow for resentencing for women in prison for killing their abusers if the abuse β€œcontributed” to the crime & it’s filled w/ quotes from prosecutors abt public safety & mutual abuse. These women are decades into their sentences

It's not just the SAVE Act. All voter ID laws are voter suppression. Stop claiming it would be fine if the government provided the IDs-you're validating a central part of the argument

Yes that’s why the bounty hunter strategy was originally tried in Texas for SB8. Going to keep digging. Thanks again for posting it!

Just read through this whole bill. While it has a civil enforcement mechanism it looks like its only allowing people to sue the government entity responsible for building accommodations not individual trans people. Bizarre legal claim still

Oh I’m so sorry!! You’re right. I didn’t see it mentioned in the article. Thank you so much for passing it along

Any anti trans bathroom bill is awful but it doesn’t look like that one is trying to enforce the bounty hunter element

Kansas Republicans overrode Gov Kelly's veto of their "Bathroom Bounty" bill to allow ppl to sue trans ppl they think used the wrong bathroom. SCOTUS allowed Texas to try this for abortion & I fear we'll see more bounty hunter bills like this. I'm working on a piece for @rewirenewsgroup.com now

Prosecuting (or at least investigating) miscarriages is actually an important element of criminalizing abortion & enforcing traditional gender roles

The ADL is actively contributing to making an accusation of antisemitism seem like the boy who cried wolf with disinformation & racism. It’s actively putting Jews in danger. If I didn’t know better I’d say they’re doing it on purpose

Opinion: The SAVE Act Will Disenfranchise Entire Swaths of Voters Tracking down documentary proof of citizenship is hard enough, but what do you do if the name on your birth certificate doesn’t match your current name?

Since the SAVE act passed the house here’s your regular reminder not only that this act will disenfranchise married/divorced women, trans ppl, rural voters but also that ALL voter ID laws do so. The Save Act just does it on a larger scale @rewirenewsgroup.com rewirenewsgroup.com/2025/04/01/o...

I'm glad people are disconnecting their Ring Cameras after the Superbowl Ad and Flock Safety partnership but if society cared about gender based violence we never would have embraced so much tech surveillance in the first place

Is there a way for multiple substack creators to basically band together and charge like $10-20/month but you get access to 5-10 peoples substacks? I’m actively building mine and would love to work with other writers to support each other!

All I can think about is finding a job. All I do is contact people. Send in applications. Email people who said they wanted me to do freelance for them. I have worked since high school. I have a PhD. I don’t know how I’m going to get my bills paid

12.02.2026 02:41 β€” πŸ‘ 21    πŸ” 3    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

No I didn’t say anything about their motivation. Simply that their argument did validate enslaved people as not being people. And even so a constitutional amendment 75 years later is meaningless to the meaning behind the 3/5 compromise

10.02.2026 20:18 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

I apologize I misunderstood what you were objecting to in my tweet. I don’t understand how any of that means I’m wrong about 3/5 compromise

10.02.2026 20:05 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Additionally that section wasn’t undermined by Jim Crow because it’s about population count-not voting. And section 2 is racist for excluding β€œIndians.” So still not sure how any of that questions my argument

10.02.2026 20:00 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Uh don’t know which sentence you’re referring to but I think you mean the first sentence. Don’t know how you could claim anything in the 14th is akin to the 3/5 compromise. Section 2 excludes β€œIndians” from being counted for representation but it doesn’t include language about their personhood

10.02.2026 19:59 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

This is in large part due to the fact that the north WAS arguing for enslaved people to literally not count as people. Yes their argument made more consistent sense & wanted to limit slave power but it still supported the underlying slavery justification that slaves weren’t people
