We’re standing up for the behind-the-scenes crews who make County park events possible by establishing a $25 minimum wage and mandatory OSHA safety standards.

EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin will be in San Diego; I invited him to join me in our South San Diego communities to speak directly with residents on how the Tijuana River pollution crisis is affecting them.

We continue to celebrate the innovators, activists, and trailblazers, as well as the generations of workers and families who laid the very foundation of this nation and continue to shape its future.

Honoring Black history means remembering the past while continuing to shape a more just future. This #BlackHistoryMonth is a reminder: no matter how hard anyone tries to erase it, Black history endures—immortalized through impact, shared victories, collective voices, & ongoing fight for equality.

By bringing together community leaders, nonprofits, and local businesses for a full day of workshops and panels, we create access, learning, and connection—the building blocks of a healthier, more resilient, and economically vibrant South Bay.

Strong communities grow when leaders invest in neighbors, support working families, and empower local entrepreneurs. I’m committed to being that leader, and I appreciated the chance to share how at Casa Sur Hacienda’s 2026 Wealth, Wellness & Social Purpose One-Day Experience.

This action the Board approved today is a mechanism to bring nearly $25M in potential federal relief and mitigation projects directly to the residents of South County and the South Bay.

Each declaration is necessary for underscoring the urgency and seriousness of this ongoing emergency, but I am committed to working with the speed and action that will end the streak once and for all.

The San Diego County Board of Supervisors has issued 20 Proclamations of Local Emergency for the Tijuana River Valley pollution crisis. Today’s vote marks 21.

The newly formed Lincoln Acres Community Sponsor Group is ready to get going. I gathered with residents to empower people to apply and join the group, answer questions, and hear the community’s vision for the future of Lincoln Acres. Your civic engagement is what makes this work possible.

I stand in full solidarity with the 31,000 Kaiser Permanente healthcare workers currently on strike across California and Hawaii.

It is my honor to celebrate the opening of the new Sharp Rees-Stealy Chula Vista Medical Center, a significant milestone for South Bay and for the health and well-being of our community.

Healthcare is a right, not a privilege. Every resident deserves timely, high-quality care, and in a growing city like Chula Vista, expanding access could not be more important. As our community continues to grow, so does the need for comprehensive, coordinated care close to home.

Our faith, community, and government leaders must work in tandem to protect families and the dignity of all people.

My team and I will continue showing up in our communities to vehemently oppose ICE in our neighborhoods. Thank you, Our Lady of Guadalupe and San Diego Organizing Project, for bringing so many people together tonight.

Congratulations to all the participants, and to Axel Arevalo for creating a poster that beautifully captures and celebrates the worldwide Latino film community.

I was honored to attend the San Diego Latino Film Festival’s unveiling of this year’s winning poster. Art connects us across borders, reminding us that we are all part of a global network of storytelling, creativity, and design.

At next week’s BOS meeting, we will introduce the subcommittee’s proposal to deploy $4.75 million in County funding to strengthen public health data on TJRV pollution impacts and update infrastructure at the Saturn Boulevard hotspot.
