Couldn't disagree more with your last premise. They have two elite SPs in Lopez & Ryan, several high-end relievers, Byron Buxton and Royce Lewis. There's zero reason they couldn't make noise.

The returns on those expiring contract players will be meh. Just doesn't enthuse me.

Playing .600 ball over a 60-game stretch is not outlandish at all. Teams do it all the time.

Cannot be stressed enough how insane it is that the Twins lead the league in pitching WAR, and have the third-best hitter in the league, and are 3 games below .500.

The Twins rank second in the majors in pitching WAR! I feel like you're selling them way short here. On the offensive side you may have a point.

Are they really directionless though? They have good young pitching. They have some solid young hitters. Rock solid farm system. I'd say this core is ripe for some investment

Reality for the Twins is that rebuilding isn't much of an option when they've got Carlos Correa immovably under contract for $35M/year. They have to hope he turns it around and try to win with him. They really have no other choice.

The buy/sell conversation is moot imo
