A white side which reads:
Top tips from case 5
- complexity is our bread and butter
- embrace the chaos of not knowing
- invest time in effective communication - it'll make you feel more confusing with decisions
- don't go into all conversations with a pre-set agenda - flexible (but clear) decide making during the communication is ok
- team work is great but be cautious of the non-invested opinion - 'he definitely isn't a candidate for escalation.' 'I'd put him on NIV.'

Great to have stayed on in Nottingham for the @gerisoc.bsky.social #G4J #bgsconf. Fab to see so many people here and great talks. Really enjoying this one on polypharmacy from @henriatric.bsky.social (who also has a great bluesky handle).

Agreed. I've seen a couple of things with video games experts saying that it's the one thing they won't let their kids anywhere near.

I've just spent 2 weeks in NZ during which I said, more than once, that it actually doesn't rain very much in London and it rains more in Auckland. I stand by both of these statements but, my fellow Londoners, I am sorry, I think this weather is my fault. π§οΈ

This feels like a very specific thing for Duolingo to talk about! Better though than when it tried to teach me the sentence 'the men write in sugar' in Italian, which, funnily enough, I have never had cause to use (in Italian or any other language).

I really enjoyed this piece from a registrar about conducting citizenship ceremonies. I remember my own ceremony very well and, as luck would have it, had the same registrar that had officiated at my wedding a couple of years earlier.

A scarf on a cream coloured carpet. The scarf is folded so that both sides are visible. One side shows cream coloured PokΓ©mon characters on colourful backgrounds and the other shows colourful PokΓ©mon characters on cream backgrounds.
My second go at double sided knitting - a PokΓ©mon scarf for my son. Ready just as the weather gets warm of course. Hope he's still into PokΓ©mon by winter...

I was helping at parkrun recently and one of our volunteers dropped her phone while setting up the course. While she was off looking for it, a teenage boy approached us to hand it in, having picked it up somewhere in the park. The kids are alright.

Can anyone tell me what happens if the Westminster assisted dying bill passes next reading but doesn't finish the whole process before summer? Will it continue after recess? It looks like govt bills can be carried across sessions but not sure about private members bills.

Wandered around Brentford yesterday afternoon and was struck by what must be a vast amount of money being put into developments plus new shops and restaurants.
Southall much better connected with the Elizabeth Line but very few new shops/restaurants alongside development.

Yes, my son goes to lessons outside of school but I understand that that's relatively unusual in our community and many kids don't get a chance to learn until they have lessons at school. Also, it's hard to get into lessons - we really struggled to find availability.

I don't know anything about the mechanics of it but there are several companies that offer installation of a temporary pool and instructors etc. It's obviously not as big as a 25m pool - I think they're typically 10m long. 'Pop up' was maybe not completely accurate.
04.04.2025 16:06 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0
Our school is looking at installing a pop-up pool for a term or so which would allow daily lessons and smaller groups to learn and possibly other year groups to have lessons. Hopefully we'll see an improvement. 3/3

Again, not sure if it's standard but rates of kids actually being able to swim 25m are not great, possibly because not enough lessons, short lessons, 30 kids trying to learn at once etc. And schools typically don't have pools so there's a round trip to a local leisure centre. 2/3
03.04.2025 20:21 β π 5 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0
I'm not 'in education' but I'm the chair of governors at my son's school. Yes, it is in the curriculum, kids are supposed to be able to swim 25m by the time they leave primary. Not sure if it's standard but at our school year 4s go to lessons weekly for 1.5 terms (2 classes, 1.5 terms per class) 1/3

My mum and 12-yr-old niece have been visiting over the last few weeks and it has been a joy to witness my niece seeing famous landmarks for the first time. Her delight at seeing Big Ben and the Eiffel Tower was incredible, as was (in a different way) her disappointment at seeing the Mona Lisa.
