I know at least one other person for whom this is this is true. It was a major concern when many contributors signed the open letter to the Times over its coverage of trans rights.

Are the provider-tax cuts phased in the same way as the work requirements? And if not, which states will feel the impact first? I've seen this estimate from 5 yrs ago saying it's as much as 30% of some states' non-federal Medicaid funding.

The irony is that the Republican argument on this has now totally flipped from, “the states can’t afford this” to “states aren’t paying their fair share.”

For more than a decade the primary GOP argument against Medicaid expansion has been that at some point the federal gov would pull the rug out from under states and make them cover the cost. It never happened so now they’re trying to make it happen by slashing the portion covered by providers.

“Instead of the states paying their fair share they’re charging the providers which then requires US taxpayers to offset these high provider taxes”

I know this is wonky but it really does illustrate some of the hypocrisy in GOP position on Medicaid 1/…
