The Trump administration has unfurled banners on the Department of Education building featuring Booker T. Washington, Catharine Beecher, and Charlie Kirk. Washington and Beecher were influential figures in American education whose legacies shaped schools and teaching nationwide.

A 3Γ3 collage of close-up photographs of daffodils in bloom, showing different varieties in shades of yellow and white. Some have bright golden trumpets, others pale petals with contrasting cups, all set against soft green garden backgrounds.
According to old tradition, daffodils bloom around 1st March in honour of Saint David, the patron saint of Wales. His feast day falls on this date and coincides with the beginning of meteorological spring. #StDavidsDay #FolkloreSunday

My photo of another of my camellia blooms this morning and tucked away just behind the bloom is a little wasp nest.
A lovely camellia bloom from my #garden is giving me joy this morning, and if you look just behind this lovely, you'll spot a little wasp nest tucked away. Sometimes, it's the little things that makes you smile.π±βοΈπ

Several good big clumps of miniature daffodils, growing from a grass verge still littered with last autumn's leaves, a sheltered spot in full sun (when available) in front of a dry stone wall
The first day of March, the first day of meteorological spring and the first eruption of little golden trumpets.

A tight flock of red knots sweeps low over the shoreline of Lough Foyle, their pale winter plumage glowing creamy white against a soft blue-grey sea. Wings are fully outstretched and slightly blurred with motion, revealing silvery underwings edged in darker tips. Their short, straight bills point forward in unison as they bank together, yellow-green legs tucked neatly beneath streamlined bodies. Droplets of water hang in the air below them, suggesting they have just lifted from the tideline, moving as one coordinated wave over the calm coastal waters.
Interesting facts about red knots:
β’ Red knots are remarkable long-distance migrants, travelling up to 15,000 km between Arctic breeding grounds and wintering sites as far south as Africa and South America.
β’ In breeding plumage they turn a rich brick-red on the chest and face β a dramatic change from the pale grey winter tones seen here.
β’ Lough Foyle is an internationally important site for wintering waders, and red knots rely on estuaries like this to refuel on shellfish and small invertebrates.
β’ They can almost double their body weight before migration, storing fat to power nonstop flights over vast distances.
β’ Red knots often feed by touch, probing mudflats with sensitive bills to detect buried prey without needing to see it.
Rob @robcrank68.bsky.social has said today's #BirdOfTheDay theme is #FourOrMore, captures of 4 or more birds in 1 photo, the Alt theme is #Blue, Blue in its plumage. Gone with Red Knots, migratory shorebirds, visit here in winter from arctic regions. #birds #EastCoastKin
