Controlling the Mechanical Response of Polymers via Metal Induced Coordination Conformational Changes Polymers containing edta groups can bind metal ions in an intrachain manner that results in β€œmicrorigidification” of the polymer backbone and subsequent changes in mechanical characteristics.

Excited to share our first publication on metal-organic soft materials. Specifically, a new type of metal-binding polymer that shows changes in physical characteristics without extensive polymer crosslinking. Thanks to Dr. Mingshi Zhang for his efforts!
