The two former socialist politicians have received the highest ever number of votes in Irish history, in their respective elections. This year is the 14th & final for Michael Dโs term.
A panorama sketchbook is opened with a colour sketch across both pages making an extra-long panorama. Paper is rag cotton with deckled edges. Sketch is done using black ink line in various fineliners, water based media of vivival color sheets and viviva pan set, inktense coloured pencils, white gel pen, posca pens, Liquitex acrylic paint markers, Faber Castell grey brush pens, and Derwent paint pens. View across a large square at a line of buildings mostly narrow and 5 or 6 stories high, though a wide orange one on the right half is just 3 stories high. Most of its windows have some form of green shutters or cloth coverings, and the large ones have balconies. At street level it has shops and many bicycles are locked in stands outside. Adjoining it on the right is a tall pink building, 3 window bays wide and darker at street level. A green building to its right is obscured by green foliage on the right edge of the sketch. The other apartment buildings to the left are mostly creams and yellows, some with long balconies across all three windows of each story, and others with isolated balconies. Those buildings gradually go behind a large building in the square dominating the left half - that of an old market with a modern metal black covering of various planes sloping and arching. In front of the market are two large yellow umbrellas over people eating at a cafe or restaurant. The leftmost building behind the market is a glass tower of narrow blue and green windows. The sky is a bright blue, matching the blue of a metal square kiosk in the centre behind which is a gap in the buildings as there is a street leading to the square there.
Last weekend I was in Barcelona sketching and generally having an amazing time. This is Barceloneta, in the large Plaรงa del Poeta Boscร with its wonderfully funky market building. #urbansketching

26.10.2025 05:06 โ ๐ 880 ๐ 139 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 4I did. Carrying that bag with those gloves and those shoes reveals a serious lack of judgment and taste on her part. I can't imagine why anyone would want to vote for someone like that. I'm sure she'll be fine, though
26.10.2025 17:05 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Yeah, I've been vaguely aware of that but didn't realize that they were that popular. I thing Bluesky gives me a somewhat distorted perception of everything. That being that not everyone in Ireland is as wonderful and like-minded as the folks I know from here
25.10.2025 15:09 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 4 ๐ 0That...doesn't sound good. Sounds like a reason to be concerned for the next election. If they manage to get their act together, won't that give them a significant, if not controlling, position in the next government? Forgive me that much of Irish politics is still a mystery

25.10.2025 11:52 โ ๐ 8 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 15 ๐ 0I have the sense that most folks are willing to give their favorite candidate the chance to be their own person and bring to the office their unique point of view and concerns. I know Michael D is much loved, and I think the next president will be as well as long as she stays true to herself

Okay Lads, time to show the rest of the world how a democratic republic works. Your vote is your voice, and it matters. Now go use it! ๐ฎ๐ช๐
23.10.2025 22:22 โ ๐ 33 ๐ 2 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Watching part of the White House come
down feels like watching a piece of our
story disappear. The East Wing has always
stood for service, grace, and possibility
things no one can demolish. You can tear
down walls, but you canโt erase history.
When someone starts a sentence with the phrase, "not to sound like a racist, but..." I can guarantee that the words that follow will absolutely be the words of a racist. Every time
