Often ranting about TfL's worst Cycleway (#Cycleway1). Tens of thousands of potential cycle journeys are lost every day because huge compromise were made.

That whole section which is the City, Hackney and Islington's needs a strategic tidy-up in terms of access and condition. It really could be a great cycle street is we applied the Dutch design approach.

I am not sure how the roads are split given the Hackney/ Islington border is up the middle.

When is @hackneycouncil.bsky.social going to get a grip and fix streets like this (Paul St) and De Beauvoir Rd? It's no fun zigzagging around all the cracks, sunken ironworks, potholes and dips. Will anyone stand up to the council and remind them of their obligations? @willnorman.co.uk? #Cycleway1

Hi @hackneylcc.bsky.social. Any word yet from Hackney Council on fixing the surface on De Beauvoir Rd #Cycleway1?

After years of incorrect signage and unhelpful provisions, seems someone's had a word with contractors who continue to regularly dig up part of #Cycleway1! Good to see.

Meeting our comms team this week to consider how best we establish a Northamptonshire Police Bluesky account.

What do you want from a corporate police account?

More transparency? Local updates? Road danger reduction info? Outcomes?

How can we better inform, engage and build trust?

Thank you!

Cycled over 12 miles today, mostly with my 8-year old boy, here and there. And arrived at each destination on time, without wasting time finding a parking space, and bone dry thanks to proper clothing. Being car dependent is a sham.

The sheer joy of being able to safely and comfortably cycle anywhere in Amsterdam with my daughter is amazing. Today we have cycled all over from East to West to south to Central. Don't have to follow any meandering "Cycleways", just safe streets, everywhere.

Good to see some residents are still focusing on that which kills. Concerned residents in Bromley have used a speed gun to send more than 1,000 recordings of speeding cars to the Met Police. www.standard.co.uk/news/london/...

Hackney's Main Roads Hackney's Main Roads (and how we can make them better for everyone)

We don’t just want more and better LTNs, we want Hackney main roads to change. 10% of Hackney residents live on main roads, and we want those people to feel the benefit too.

Here’s how main roads should be changed in Hackney:

Or, and hear me out, we could copy the Dutch and have staffed cycle garages at stations.

Amsterdam, Utrecht and a much smaller one at Gouda.

They are usually free for the first 24 hours *and* house the national cycle hire scheme run by Dutch railways.

Norfolk businessman escapes driving ban after using mobile phone while at the wheel Daniel Bedwell from Stalham has narrowly escaped a driving ban after he was caught using a mobile phone while driving on Bracondale.

Exceptional hardship defence prevented driving ban. Court weighed impact on him & other employees β€” but where are the crash victims in that balance? Where does road safety feature? In UK, around 250 people die each year in fatal crashes linked to phone distraction.

Jeremy Vine loves him, motorists hate him. Is this man London’s most controversial cyclist? How Cycling Mikey's quest for road safety divided London

Public reporting deters crime. We urge it for burglary, assault, fraud β€” so why not road danger?? Reporting helps tackle reckless driving and save lives. The Daily Mail mocking this as β€œvillainy” misses the point. Accountability on our roads protects everyone.

"Safety first" needs to begin systematic safety, starting with the elimination of hazards or at the very least isolating people from the hazard.

It was once argued that roads like Boleyn Rd were "too narrow" for protected cycle tracks. Turns out it was just some people's minds which were too narrow. The street still accommodates general traffic in both directions. Every street like this needs this. #Cycleway1

Because there's still no cycle crossings on many of #Cycleway1's junctions, people riding bicycles in the pouring rain and still expected to stop and give way to drivers. Maddening. Is this okay with you @willnorman?
