29羽め：䲦鳥(Dai-niao)。三つ目で耳があり、鹿のような声で鳴く梟のような鳥。机谷という谷に住む。目は縦に配置して、「目」のような顔になりました。目がたくさんあるぞアピールがすごい。肉を食べると冷え性に効くらしい。これからの季節にありがたい鳥ですね。

⛰️山海経27: 当扈。ヒゲで空を飛ぶキジ。頬毛で長距離飛行するのは物理的にかなり大変そうなので、インドショウノガンみたいに求愛ジャンプする鳥だったのではあるまいか。
🌊Shanhai jing 27: Dang-hu. A pheasant that flies with feathers around the ear or neck. That sounds weird, but maybe it was for jumping courtship like Lesser floricans.

27羽め：当扈(Dang-hu)。雉のような鳥で、喉の部分にある毛で飛翔する(首、外れそうにならないのかな…)。どうしても物理的な限界の方が気になってしまうので、天女の羽衣のような、神仙的な力で浮かび上がる羽毛として描いてみました。きっと自由自在に飛べるので、手羽部分は退化して小さくなっているのではと想像します。

24羽め：鵕鳥(Xun-niao)。父の欽䲹とともに葆江を殺害したため天帝に誅せられたが、鳥の姿で復活。嘴のまっすぐなトビ(禅問答みたいな設定に困惑)で、足は赤く、黄色い模様があり、首は白い。鵠(はくちょう)のような声で鳴く。日本の諺に言う「とんびが鷹を産む」ならぬ、「鶚に転生したら息子がトンビだった」案件。

25羽め：鵸䳜(Qi-tu)。3つの首と6つの尾を持ち、よく笑うカラスに似た鳥。服用すると(と平凡社ライブラリー版には書かれているので、食料というより薬のような立ち位置なのだろうか？)夢でうなされることがなくなり、凶を避けるのにも良い。Moaさんの据え置き型が良デザなのでどんな作画にするかめちゃくちゃ悩みました。ケルベロス型はもう何回か描いてはいるので面白味に欠けるけど、せっかくカラス似なのでもっふもふの黒猫みたいにしてみました。目や口だけが描かれてる毛玉、けっこう好き。

25羽め：櫟(Li)。黒い模様と赤い首毛のある鶉のような鳥。首毛もあるし、当たっている漢字になぞらえて、クヌギのどんぐりみたいなフォルムにしてみました。肉を食べると痔に効くらしい。凶兆をもたらしたり人間を食べたりする怪鳥がわんさかいる中、こういうもふもふころんとして肉も美味しそうな鳥がいてもよいのではないでしょうか(あっという間に狩り尽くされそう)。

23羽め：大鶚(Da-e)。元は人面龍身の神。子の鼓とともに、葆江という天神を殺害したため天帝により成敗されたが、変身して大きなミサゴになった。雕(わし)のようで黒い模様があり、嘴は赤く虎のような爪を持つとされる。出現すると大戦が起こる。また倒してもなんやかんや復活しそうな、すごく悪運強そうバード。

22羽め：顒(Yong)。梟のような人面鳥。4つ目で耳がある。出現すると大いに旱魃が起こるという。フクロウというと夜のイメージがあるので、旱魃のような日照りと関係する天災と結びついているのが意外というか、おもしろく感じる(現実世界もいま気候変動で相当まずいことになっているけれど、そっちは顒のせいではなく人間のせい)。
