08.02.2026 15:01 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Splendid day at #Soane26. Massive thank you to @michaeldornan.bsky.social . So excited to put ideas from @paulalobo.bsky.social and @edurbin.bsky.social into my lessons on Monday π
07.02.2026 21:08 β π 2 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0This has redeemed a generally quite poor week
06.02.2026 20:26 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I think Dunkirk is very good actually, captures a lot of different perspectives and the tragedy for every one involved.

31.10.2025 14:50 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The Fraud by Zadie Smith is one of my favourite books this year, I think you'd love it. There is a Rest is History about the case in the book as well. K
05.07.2025 20:46 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Depressing read. I am lucky in my school so in my experience the biggest crisis is the utter bin fire in LA funding. I spent days fighting for funding for the new Yr 7s. In theory we need 6 LSAs, can sort of manage with 4. Have funding for 2. I could go on...and on schoolsweek.co.uk/burnt-out-an...
07.06.2025 19:37 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0As a SENDCO, whilst I agree with you @bennewmark.bsky.social , I also have to work hard to maintain relationships with families who are often very bruised by their interactions with education so far. So sometimes running with the coloured paper is the lesser of the weevils.
03.06.2025 19:57 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Well said, @tomrees.bsky.social speaking at @ascl-uk.bsky.social #ASCL2025: "I would like to see a world where we can retire the label of SEND".
Dead right. It's about giving the dignity of achievement to all young people: schoolsweek.co.uk/id-like-to-s...
Inclusion in Practice is live! This is a sector-led initiative to gather practical examples of successful approaches to inclusion in mainstream education.
We welcome submissions from all involved in delivering inclusive practice. Link to submit here: www.inclusioninpractice.org.uk 1/3
I am adding another suggestion to the list.
Don't book any meetings etc in the last 3 days of term. As our most vulnerable students get tired, you are going to be busy...
Oh my word. This is a notable defining moment amongst the many defining moments of the last month.
I spent a lot of 2016-2020 arguing that comparisons to fascism were silly because the US had an independent judiciary.
A rare opportunity to come and work at a wonderful school with the brilliant Dan Warner Meanwell, and me!

Hard agree. Already spotting AI stuff everywhere. Superficially fine, but actually when you look at just very random. Worksheets that are way over the reading age of the class; letters that for some reason just don't connect etc
30.01.2025 20:43 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0This is a terrific job. Great school, great department. Boss who has very nice chocolate in her cupboard and a good selection of jokes. Never boring, loads to learn, you'll make a tangible difference every day. DM me with any questions.

I read a biography on him last year and he was definitely not boyfriend material (phrasing borrowed from daughter 3).
08.01.2025 18:57 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0In relation to your original post though, I started it as a SENDCO looking for food thought in supporting our rising numbers of CYP with EBSA/SEMH needs. So far zero stuff for me to take into work.
02.01.2025 14:15 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I haven't finished yet, but in relation to your original post, I started it as a SENDCO hoping for food for thought in supporting rising numbers of CYP with EBSA/SEMH. So far zero stuff I can use for school discussions. (We are device free already)

02.01.2025 14:07 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I am reading The Anxious Generation by Jonathan Haidt atm, which is interesting. In summary, he tracks increased MH concerns to wild West on line lives combined with over protection in real life.

02.01.2025 11:24 β π 0 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0Our local authority will now only give us Β£13 ph for TA staff required by EHCPs. Lots of local schools under staffed for statutory requirements and can't recruit a SENDCO.
