Green Careers Week From Biology Field Trip to a Green Career When I was at school, my original plan was to study Accountancy. It seemed sensible and a financially secure career path. Then came my A-level Biology field trip. It was one of those rare weeks of blistering sunshine on the coast of Wales, and I loved every minute of it. Being outdoors, surrounded by nature, collecting data with the sea breeze in my hair (I had more hair back then) — I was completely in my element.

Biology Week 2025: Words, Spelling, and a Little Fun  So, only four more sleeps … Biology Week is fast approaching, and the finale for participants of the Royal Society of Biology-funded National Spelling Bee for 2025 is upon us! At a first glance at the competition words the pupils needed to learn, it seemed nothing had changed from last year — until my eyes landed on Endozoochory. That’s ENDOZOOCHORY.

Having the Sustainable Development Goals on display in the classroom and giving pupils the opportunity to read news articles and reports and then discuss which SDG’s are relevant (a colleague with Y5 - they were SO on it!)

Listen… hear what they’re excited or concerned about & work out how to turn anxiety into activism, show that adults have to feel their way too. ‘How you can save the planet’ is an inspiring handbook to share with them.

Weekly conservation activity, morning mile, gardening, visiting experts, a magnifying post for examining treasures, visible Eco board with eye catching & inspiring displays, updates in the newsletter home, using the smoothie bike to reward keen greens, (plus Eco-Day, ForeverFashion / Trashion Show)

When learning about environmental issues it's good to listen to #YouthVoice to hear what action they want: such as changing school policy such as boycotting unsustainable palm oil, fundraising to support biodiversity, writing to MPs to demand change or running community events 😁
