Overtourism & rapid building development already threaten #cultural #heritage sites & landscapes on Paros. We encourage this approach to be applied more widely for efficient documentation of these areas before too late, sharing data w/ Ministry colleagues to inform site preservation & protection.

Aerial photo of ruins of ancient tower surrounded by dry agricultural fields. A dirt road runs across the image. A few clouds in the sky at back, and sea visible in distance.
βοΈOur recent work around the #ancient tower at Palaiopyrgos (Paros) is published in JAS Reports π πΊ
We used multi-method #survey & #geophysical prospection to better understand landscapes of #agriculture and production in the rural #Cyclades.

The second explores how we can think about Roman #archaeological and #historical themes using the concept of glocalization. Case studies look at architecture, construction, agriculture, trade, iconography, art and social and economic connectivity across several regions of the Roman Mediterranean. /3
