I am so sick of being told artistic expression needs to be done in a β€˜safe’ way. Art and intellectual debate aren’t supposed to be β€˜safe’. They’re supposed to be challenging, provocative and profound. If you want β€˜safe’, stay on the couch.

On doing the same inadequate shit over and over again until the end of democracy - The Shot The consequence of not good enough, as evidenced in the United States right now, is that you inevitably get much, much worse.

In a nutshell!

The best education systems in the world are 100% public. When every kid goes to public school all parents, including the rich ones, want the public schools to be good. Oh, and its great for social cohesion.

But in Australia, we talk about being evidence based but ignore the evidence all the time

The LNP don't like their own words repeated back to them, which is why they're infuriated by this ad.

Which is also why you should share it.

Opposition Budget Reply – Short-Term Thinking at Long-Term Cost

Me on Dutton's Thursday SpeechΒΉ:
*️⃣ 25Β’/ltr temp fuel excise cut is "borrowing from our future to pay for a short-term fix"
*️⃣ Nothing on nuclear? Is Dutton hiding a policy which drives up billsΒ²?
*️⃣ More domestic gas supply sounds good but mortgages our future. Electric is the way

β€˜Deliberate, orchestrated incident’: Daily Telegraph caught up in stunt gone wrong It’s the oldest adage in journalism: don’t become the story.

The Daily Telegraph took part in a stunt in which a provocateur tried and failed to *stir up* antisemitism at an Egyptian restaurant in order to have it caught on camera.

How's this for "social cohesion"? I wonder if any politicians will bother to comment

So the major parties passed these electoral reforms late last night

They come into effect after the 2025 election. Which means this could be our last fair election. And the last chance to tell the two-party system to piss off

Only a Xbench with balance of power can reform these reforms now

Dutton has suggested legislating Jan26 as #AustraliaDay to prevent future date changes. Why not choose a date that doesn't celebrate invasion & dispossession? Why not choose a date that unifies rather than divides?! Jan26 only became Australia Day in 1935, and a public holiday in 1994! πŸ™„ #auspol

1. The country town nuances were spot on.
2.Her clear characterisations of people meant that I could 'see' them clearly
3.The pace of her writing meant I couldn't put it down.

I hope she writes another!
