You don’t have to consent to a search. If arrested, you have the right to a lawyer. ICE won’t provide one. Don’t answer questions about your immigration status. Memorize phone numbers of family and a lawyer. If police or ICE come to your home Do not open the door unless agents show a warrant signed by a judge. Ask them to slide the warrant under the door or show it through a window. You have the right to remain silent - say so out loud. If they force entry, don’t resist, but state: “I do not consent to this search.” If you are detained or arrested Ask for a lawyer immediately.
