Like all authoritarians Trump can use his power to progressivley control the media. Time is NOT on the side of Democrats (or democrats). Act now.

Not to mention progressively dominating the media through his oligarchic stooges. US public opinion is more volatile than ever before: it has shown itself to be vulnerable to calculated media distortion and lies.

Think what Cash Patel and Dan Bongino at the FBI can do. If there is no Rule of Law there can be no guarantee of a fair election. Trump is progressively destroying Rule of Law.

There is nothing more alarming than smug democrats forecasting Trump's political self destruction. Do not think normal politics. Think of the myriad of ways Trump and his cronies can corrupt the next election - the midterms, not to mention the presidential.

The courts have no power to enforce their decisions. What remains is only the people, committed active right-thinking people: civil disobedience and mass rallies, ideally a million-person march on Washington. Mobilise and plan for that now.

Trump has already attempted a coup. There is zero chance he will not use every illegal means available to him to stay in power. Since the BIG LIE the "Republicans" have shown they will abandon the constitution and rule of law just to stay in office. They have become an army of Trump acolytes.

There is not a second to waste in getting organised, mobilising people, holding mass rallies in the streets, showing there are enough active committed people to resist the fascist takeover.

Claire Mcaskill does not get it. I'm sure she's a nice person but this is TRAGIC STUPIDITY. This is no longer about politics: this is about raw power.

Claire McCaskill says that effective opposition will emerge in maybe 6 months, that Trump's policies mean he will lose the mid-terms. What makes her think there will be fair elections in 2026 ? Look how fast things are happening now. Think what it will be like in 2 years time.

After protesting in immediate reaction to Trump's outrages there must always be a next stage. Organise something bigger. Pick a place and date in the future and build for it.

Americans who are ouraged by Trump's treatment of Zelensky and Ukraine need to do more than just talk about it in indignant terms. They need to organise as big a demonstration, as soon as they can, in support of Ukraine. Maximum number possible, on the streets, in a peaceful disciplined way.

Trump does not care about the US: he just wants to buttress his own position in the US, based on a subservient oligarchic cleptocracy just like that in Russia. Democracy and the Rule of Law are Trump's enemy just as they are Putin's.

Trump is an ally of Putin because he knows Putin will always support him against his real enemy the US establishment which (rightly) put him on trial. Putin supports Trump because he knows Trump will weaken the US.

He wants to make colluding with Putin look like a victory for 'America First', and abandonment of Ukraine look like the fault of Zelensk's "obstinacy". This is his way of preparing the American public or at least his Republican stooges for his support of Putin in destroying Ukraine.

This was an ambush. Trump is not trying to extract minerals from Ukraine. He is working with Putin to destroy Ukraine. He is pushing Ukraine into a position where it accepts a deal that favours Russia or has to fight on, abandoned by the US.

And if Trump tries to use the military then it will be crystal clear to all that he stands for dictatorship and the rule of force. That clarity will work in your favour: its the bad guys who are alwas obscuring the truth. Do it, please, for yourselves and the rest of us around the world.

Organise that five-million march ! While you still can. Revive your flagging morale. Show your strength. In numbers and in the depth of your resolve. A march for ‘Justice, Democracy and a Livable Planet’. Do it for real. Be peaceful. Be disciplined. Make it clear who is creating any trouble.

The bad guys know that they are in a race against time to corrupt the system before the next election (the mid-terms or the one after) sufficiently to “win” it and overcome the inevitable backlash against them.

Get ahead. Plan big. Act big. Be surprising not predictable. Seize the initiative. Don’t think that politics will work as usual. Don’t think you can change everything back after the next election. There may never be another fair election in America.

These are fascists in power and they will act like fascists. If you try to resist them bit by bit they will crush you bit by bit. My message to the sane and decent people in America is: be proactive, not just reactive. If you only push back you will not be able to push back everything forever.

That is simply to admit that he is effectively being intimidated by Trump. That is to capitulate in advance. What is needed is action not empty rhetoric. I am sure Mr. Raskin is a nice guy but at this juncture Democrats (/democrats/ progressives/sane people) need folk made of sterner stuff.

Congressman Jamie Raskin has said that the Democrats could mount a demonstration of one million, or even five million but that they will not do so because of the potential for the released insurrectionists to create trouble or for Donald Trump to use the military against them.
