Resonite is closer to a sort of "spiritual successor" to Second Life than VRChat is, as it's build around in-game building too. VRChat has more users currently but everything needs to be created in external software. Both have some pretty cool stuff to explore tho!

It's a double edged sword. On one hand, I probably wouldn't have stuck around Resonite in the first place if development wouldn't have been as open as it was. On the other, the direct line of communication opens up an attack vector against you personally, which unfortunately some people abuse...

I've been working on being able to setup an avatar through the Unity SDK for @resonite.com. There's still more to do, but... I technically got an avatar to work. "Technically" being the word. :D
I might need to find actual avatar model to test with.

A lot of people have been wondering how will the @unity.com SDK for @resonite.com handle custom shaders.
While you can't bring the shader itself, the conversion system is easily extensible, allowing you to recreate behaviors of some custom shaders.

I feel like the Unity SDK for @resonite.com is going to be kind of "ice breaker" for a lot of people.
A lot of the comments and feedback has been people realizing the potential of the real-time collaboration and scripting, even though a lot of it was possible already.

I originally moved to Neos from Second Life, and now Resonite. It definitely has a very similar spirit, just without virtual landlords and with better scripting. Which is interesting considering @frooxius.bsky.social never played SL to my knowledge. I figure it's just a design that "makes sense".

AI is destroying the internet at an alarming rate, seeing the amount of AI generated pull requests bombarding open source projects, and the amount of AI slop bombarding... well, everything.
When AI is eventually over, can we just delete the internet and start over? Or restore a dump from 2015?

I haven't put any work into it yet, until the end of the month MMC is taking up all of my time, and afterwards I have some catching up to do on the Python wrapper itself. But I know @nytra.bsky.social is already experimenting with hooking my library up into a Blender AddOn they are making!

I have a few plans for the Blender SDK I want to build, a quick overview:
* Seamlessly import textures and meshes into Resonite
* Hierarchy integration to specify where an object from Blender should be placed
* SDK should be easily installable via Blender's Extensions platform
* Maybe live updating?

Made more progress on the Unity SDK for @resonite.com! You can see it convert a simple test scene here, as well as making edits & adjustments after conversion!

Actually, I think @kulzae.bsky.social used "light baking" in their Resonite worlds if I'm not misremembering. What technique did you use to do that? Wondering if this could be automated with the Unity SDK once it's at the point for community contributions.

Yeah we'll need to find some solution to allow moving existing worlds over. But there will be some sacrifices, most Unity shaders won't map 1:1 to Resonite shaders. But it should be "good enough". A bunch of worlds can also probably be retrofitted with real-time lights without looking too bad.

Unit SDK is currently in the works. Light baking will be a bit tricky, as Resonite's shaders don't support that yet. But the Unity SDK will be open source. I'm sure people will find a way to map Unity light baking to Resonite, worst case generating an extra "shadow mesh" to emulate it. We'll see.

There's the list of all ProtoFlux nodes that can help, but as I said, it's not perfect. You need to know what you're looking for in the first place. I think for a "getting started" some official in-game tutorials will be the way to go in the future. What also helps is taking apart stuff others made.

You're looking for wiki.resonite.com. it's not perfect, but gets better each day. A few days ago it got a big update and better search functionality. They've also recently introduced a new "Help" tab to the in-game dashboard that will be populated with more knowledge and tutorials going forward.

The @resonite.com Unity SDK now converts meshes!
Also all the SDK sessions are still full multiplayer sessions.
You can have people seeing all the changes you make from @unity.com live as you edit, which allows for quick iteration (and also is just fun :3 )!
