I needed recommendations to replace my clothes dryer. Also, I am a video game composer/sound designer (I also just started my own indie game studio.)

It was a fad that did major damage to the environment to make the Onceler a billionare. It left no real lasting impact, only damage.

We're just a teeny indie team and our art was pretty distinctive and this looks eerily similar
Anyways in good faith, the game is on all platforms, credits easily accessible, link below

Yeah there's probably a better term for games that don't really pursue depth of expression. A lot of the discussion around your top post centers around whether these types of games are exploitative in nature. But I think I get the vibe a little bit lol.
08.07.2025 20:43 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0On the other end at the consumer side, since gaming as a hobby is completely mainstream now, the bulk of the audience will have mainstream sensibilities, which often means the most successful games will be ones that hit right in the middle of that bell curve at the cost of risk & pushing boundaries.
08.07.2025 20:30 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0In the past 10 years games have been easier to distribute thanks to things like steam, XBLA, and the mobile market, which birthed the indie revolution.
But I think low effort games have been enabled by the game creation process being made more accessible. Unity engine, assets stores, etc.
Like I get the idea behind not liking "low effort" games. But hating on their success seems to miss many more meaningful arguments in critique of them.
I avoid buying potato chips because they're unhealthy and addictive, not because they're a successful product.
I don't really understand why the premise of this post puts expression and dopamine delivery at odds against one another (but maybe because drawing lines in the sand is a great way to boost engagement.)
And also framing the term as "dopamine delivery" as some sort of inferior "feeling good".
@landfall.se really giving the end of my first solo run the cinematic ending. Literally did a double take in-game at the end there.
