whenever I see signage like this at Westlake, I begin to think that it’s a bit overkill. Then, I remember that the general American public has the collective smarts of a lobotomized sloth and realize that this may not be enough for some people.

that was a very quick all-clear, and even despite the very quick duration I’ve still got a takeaway; the southbound shuttles should board at bay 3 (where the first hill peak routes serve) instead of where they currently board, at bay 4. this is so they dont block regular fixed routes while shuttling

Save The WTA WTA plans to double fares and end WWU’s student bus pass. Tell local leaders: no fare hike.

Instead, the people who would have gotten free rides will instead need to pay like anyone else. Of course, at the same time, the fares are increasing from $1 to $2. Needless to say, that will tank ridership to an unholy degree. Although we are united locally against this, I still need help. (2/3)

I didn't know it was possible for an agency to shoot itself in the foot like this, but it happened. My local agency, The WTA, has told the local universities, which make up half of its ridership, that it does not intend to continue giving free rides to their students, faculty, and staff. (1/3)

honestly the fact that the only bus stop signage in the MUTCD (or: “how to lay out a road”) puts more focus on saying “No Parking” as opposed to giving transit riders useful info says quite a lot about our priorities as a country
