looking at the average democratic frontline candidate in 2006 vs 2026 is kinda astounding

This company needs to be put out of business.

It’s an indictment of society that it’s allowed to exist at all, but it’s all the more damning that it possesses the prominence it does.

From US admin official background briefing recording listening to, seriously question if US negotiators understood what Iranians were proposing. One official keeps saying acronym for β€œIAEA” wrong.
They seem astonished Iran would not agree to the US supplying them nuclear fuel

They took as suspicious proposals that Iran saw as concessionary.

Am not saying what Iran proposed would have been enough, I dont know, but it seems US negotiators did not have the expert guidance to understand it correctly

On top of all the reporting that this war of aggression was planned well in advance, it seems that the reporting also indicates that the US political leadership are quite literally too stupid to understand basic diplomacy. I mean literally not smart enough.

Too many who should know better are backing this war. It wouldn't be happening if a) Trump were a remotely serious president who knew the risks of embarking on something whose aims he still can't specify, and b) Netanyahu wasn't embracing regional chaos as his get out of jail free card.

lotta people don't realize it, but actually the best time to launch a regime change war is RIGHT after the regime just consolidated its rule by prosecuting a bloodbath

you want the opposition nice and fragmented and totally spent of its powers for organization and collective action. few know this!

What was one way they could have stopped this?

By running a better candidate who didn't support a genocide in the 2024 election and winning it.

Anything else?

In case you were worried that discourse couldn’t get more stupid (the β€œthey” in the first post is Democrats, the β€œthis” is the ongoing military action in Iran):

One disgusting aspect of all this is Trump fundamentally doesn’t care about it at all. He barely knows where any of these places are. He likes cash in brown envelopes and being on TV as Mr Big Important Guy. He’s just willing to pull any lever he thinks might keep that stuff flowing indefinitely.

28.02.2026 19:41 β€” πŸ‘ 2051    πŸ” 453    πŸ’¬ 24    πŸ“Œ 9

Bibi Netanyahu is a corrupt, racist war criminal and also if you start spreading racist conspiracy theories in response to his actions then I’m afraid it still says more about you and nothing about him! You don’t get a pass on it!

Democrats should promise that every refugee, asylum seeker, and green card holder illegally deported, arrested, sent to CECOT, or sent to a third country can come back to the U.S. with a fast track to citizenship.

The real story is that foreign govts try to "interfere" all the time. In 2020 and 2024 we had mechanisms to catch them, call them out, & mitigate damage. Now, those mechanims are gone & the Trump admin would prefer to exploit "foreign interference" to justify a federal take-over of elections.

I know this isn’t the most pressing issue but given the US just broke the Olympic peace, shouldn’t we also get kicked out of the Olympics now? That was literally the rationale for banning Russian Olympic athletes no?

OFFS. When Iran tried to interefere in 2020, researchers caught them and called them out. Then the Benz-Weiss-Taibbi-Musk-Jordan-Trump axis labeled those researchers "censors" ... and set about defunding them and dismantling their organizations.

Yeah, I think this is a point that might get lost for a lot of people who think we’re going to be international pariahs for this one. Nobody really likes Iran globally and if this isn’t disastrous the response will largely be β€œeh, fine, whatever”

Hey, man, if you're not up for the job requirements of being a congressman -- if the whole "war powers" part is too much of a hassle for you -- I'm sure the people in your district can find someone else who'll do the actual work for that paycheck.
