Bush decided that because no president had ever landed on a carrier while at sea that he wanted to. The pilot almost missed the trap on the landing (caught the 3rd of 3 wires). I was working nights the whole deployment, so I went to bed because fuck him. Friends got pictures with him though.

we were deployed for 9 months, did stuff in Afghanistan then got turned around on our way home to go to do stuff in Iraq, got 3 weeks in Perth Australia while they resurfaced the flight deck for Iraq, then when we were almost home and could see SD on the horizon... 1/2

this image is one of my "I was there" moments in life...I was an electrician onboard that aircraft carrier (Abraham Lincoln) and got a letter of commendation because we had to custom build transformer banks for all of the sound and lighting equipment to work on the flight deck, I slept through it.
